Miami is expected to hire Minnesota Corey Hetherman as DC

The Miami Hurricanes have their defensive coordinator. Minnesota defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman will be taking the same position with the Canes.

In games against FBS opponents, Minnesota finished 10th nationally in scoring defense (18.3 PPG), 14th in yards per play (4.7) and 19th in yards per pass attempt against (6.3).

Like Mario Cristobal, the 44-year-old Hetherman comes from the Greg Schiano coaching tree, having coached linebackers at Rutgers from 2022-23.

Hetherman had tremendous success at the FCS level. In 2021, he was named AFCA FCS Assistant Coach of the Year after coordinating James Madison's No. 2-ranked defense in the nation. He also served as Maine's defensive coordinator from 2016-18, leading the FCS in rushing defense, interceptions and fumble recoveries in his final season.

Hetherman is a Massachusetts native who played quarterback at Fichburg State from 2003-06.

He’s from about an hour south of where I live in GA. I was honestly surprised how tempered his SEC takes were when I first started listening. But it’s just gotten unbearable lately.

Did they announce what position group he’d be coaching? Obviously would expect that to be LBs but curious if they officially announced that.

Would imagine that has some implications with Nicholson.

Yeah but -10/20, been through that a few times with the wind chill here in Maryland and it fugging sucks, lol, but no each person has their comfortable places but it was odd just hearing him say that

Well you would have to ask JT that and considering he doesn't call me I wouldn't be able to answer that. It's been said over and over on here and other boards that JT did bot get along with Guirdy and his style. I think you can figure it out from here. LOL
