Miami is expected to hire Minnesota Corey Hetherman as DC

The Miami Hurricanes have their defensive coordinator. Minnesota defensive coordinator Corey Hetherman will be taking the same position with the Canes.

In games against FBS opponents, Minnesota finished 10th nationally in scoring defense (18.3 PPG), 14th in yards per play (4.7) and 19th in yards per pass attempt against (6.3).

Like Mario Cristobal, the 44-year-old Hetherman comes from the Greg Schiano coaching tree, having coached linebackers at Rutgers from 2022-23.

Hetherman had tremendous success at the FCS level. In 2021, he was named AFCA FCS Assistant Coach of the Year after coordinating James Madison's No. 2-ranked defense in the nation. He also served as Maine's defensive coordinator from 2016-18, leading the FCS in rushing defense, interceptions and fumble recoveries in his final season.

Hetherman is a Massachusetts native who played quarterback at Fichburg State from 2003-06.

Tempo has been trending slower for 3-4 years in CFB

Basically fell off a cliff last two seasons compared to the mid-late 20teens

At some point, people are going to realize that the ACC is strengthening internally as a conference when it comes to both coaching and quality of Jimmy and Joes. The problem remains its GOR, which may undergo change at some point in the near future.
