How much recruiting are most coordinators - especially defensive ones - doing? Were Steele and Guidry out there pounding the pavement for players?
Well, Mario needs a coach and let recruiting take care of self.

Munroe is obviously a name to watch as I’ve mentioned but there’s another one out there that would be a great addition and a possible replacement down the road. You always want coordinators to get head gigs. It means you’ve been successful.

I was being facetious with the Raymond quote. Cause that’s all people know I feel like. But if someone who is behind a top DC can step in and replace right away it’s a benefit. Means there’s multiple smart people in the room.

One of the db coach names I’ve heard would be a very good addition. It would make plenty of sense .
You expect any hires with connections to Hetherman or Mario making his own picks?

Off topic I was going to ask you this the other day but I forgot. Who do you think is a better QB Mensah or CJ Bailey?

I didn't watch enough (really any) NC State football to truly judge him. Stats were similar (Mensah's a little better) but as I've said Tulane's OC did everything in his power to protect him, and not have him in the position to have to win any games on his own. When he was put in the position, he failed (not always his fault. The refs took away the game tying TD against K State with a bogus OPI call). I don't know how NCSU's staff treated Bailey.

It was gonna be him until Beck came into the picture.

The peanut gallery loves Beck, so Dawson will be off the hook for next year.

Hethermen unfortunately is next up on the chopping block.
I'm not sure they've actually watched beck play.
I hope everything is saw was a lie and he lights it up though
It's the ACC so it should be easier for him

Yep - that is the point I was trying to make. I think it is important for the position coaches to be able to recruit, but honestly even that feels like it is a bit diminished with the recruiting departments and NIL. And as we have seen plenty of, it doesnt matter if you are getting great players if you can't coach them.

I know but sometimes I use a post to get a point across even if it’s sarcasm

Our "enlightened" fans will expect Dawson to put up the same numbers he did this year, and Beck to have a Cam-like system, so I'm still going with Dawson.

Am I wrong?

Does this fanbase not chew Coaches up & spit'em out for breakfast?

Hethermen could literally be the best DC in America with the #1 ranked Defense & there will be a contingency of fans who will want him fired & blame our season coming up short on him.

Guarantee it.
Of course, by some, but Guidry deserved the criticism he received.

I don’t believe he was as bad as this year showed when compared to last year but I am pretty convinced that last year was pretty much his ceiling.

Mensah was no where close to a UM caliber we all want
You are correct they protected him
Good deep ball but guys were wide open

minnesota didnt play any prolific offesnses but still impressive

only 4 teams scored 20

only 1 team scored 30 in 13 games

i do worry that '23 gophers had to play Michigan and ohio state, '24 gophers didn't draw either one which did help their defensive statistics, but there's enough areas to show there was significant improvement regardless

Watch the Penn State game. They didn’t do anything crazy. They played good. Very good on third downs.

USC was another good game. Granted this wasn’t a vaunted Riley offense. The biggest thing I can stress, they don’t beat themselves. If we need a defense to not blow games or make every game a shootout, he’s the right hire. If we need some game breaker defense to win games, it might be tough year 1.
