All the noise about OU would have him signed today.... This is a done deal.... Well, Mario obviously is got his and his team's ear. Not saying anything is a "done deal", but all the OU its a "done deal" obviously wasn't true, so why folks would hang on the ear of folks that were obviously wrong is amusing.
Listening to their podcast, he wasn't expected to get to Oklahoma until late tonight. They said he will be on campus tomorrow. Supposedly all kinds fo meetings set up for him

Idk about 10-2 because we still have a ton of holes as of now but there’s quite the difference between him and Emory.
Well, the safety hole has been filled. So now let’s get this kid as our quarterback and I think 10 wins is very much possible if not more.

I agree. Safety was a big step. That kid can play. Hopefully between him and ZP we have a decent safety group out there. We need a lockdown CB and a LB that can play and our D is shaping up. DL its going to be important for our young guys to show what they got. Blount, Scott, Jones we’re all highly touted guys that hopefully are ready

Yup. Mateer is a significant upgrade over Emory. I don't feel that way about Mendoza, for instance.
Absolutely, Mateer is 10 times the quarterback Emery is, but I would also say Mendoza is a significant upgrade over Emery as well. He’s much more athletic and a better arm.

Mateer in this offense (assuming Dawson stays) is a Top 10 quarterback in America, and that's being safe. I don't think many people on this board realize how good this kid is. It's very similar to Ward, IMO. I think Ward was more nationally known, first because he was in Pullman for 2 years as a starter, so he had more hype, and secondly because Wazzou played in an actual conference in 2022 and 2023, so people saw more of him.

With Mateer, he only played 1 year, and WSU was very much in the shadows nationally. But this is a very similar situation as it pertains to us, IMO. Mateer, behind this OL, with these weapons, being coached by Shannon Dawson, is a Heisman contender. Full stop. He's that good. Where I draw the line in his comparison to Ward is his NFL ceiling. I don't think he's got "#1 overall NFL pick" in his range of outcomes like Ward did when he was weighing coming here. Mateer is smaller with not as strong of an arm. But as a pure college football player, he can have the same impact on a program Ward did. I'm not saying we're going to have the #1 offense in the country again, but if Mateer comes here, we add some additional pieces around him and keep everything else the same, this is one of the very best offenses in the country. He's that good. People just haven't seen it as much as Ward. And he's not flirting with the NFL like Ward was.

I really hope Miami can land Mateer as I think the difference in whether we can potentially win the ACC or make the playoff hinges on the defense and who our QB is. That might be stating the obvious but so far, mario is doing good. We landed the the portal's top Safety and are in it for the No. 1 portal QB. Here's hoping we sway him to Coral Gables.

If Mateer comes here Miami will be the Vegas favorite to win the league next year. Not that it matters, just saying.

This is a done deal to OU with the Off Coordinator and QB coach there….he’ll use miami to increase market but overall will waste our time. Miami has nooo chance here the coaches who earned his trust already in OU.

Wild hearing UNC went after him so hard and actually offered him the most money out of Miami and Oklahoma

Mateer supposedly took less money than what Miami and UNC were offering him

Bill Belichick faced time him and went all out for him
