Mario, you're not here because you are smart or a good football coach. You are here to get guys like this in situations like this. GET. IT. DONE.

They are slowly pulling back on the "done deal" talk. Where is all the bravado they had 24hrs ago? lol. Sounds like they expected Mateer to hit the portal and immediately commit to them and that did not happen so now the narrative is completely changing.

I understand if Matter chooses OU because of the coaching familiarity and close to home, but there is no other reason to choose OU over Miami.

The Canes are losing a few pieces, but the biggest piece is replacing Cam. This would be Mateer. Miami has a far superior offensive line, a better wide receiver and running back rooms. Learning a new offensive system benefits him in the long run.

He simply has to look at what Cam did at Miami.

On top of that, would you rather make $2M a year and live in South Beach or $2M a year and live in Norman, Oklahoma? I’m sure the cost of living in South Beach is higher than Norman, but you get what you pay for. If you know what I mean. :)
I agree that it should be a no brainer.

When Eric Morris, the OC that recruited Mateer, left for North Texas he left the blue print for that WSU offense. Cam left after one year of Ben Arbuckle as the OC. Bailed for the better system.

Cam had a much better season at Miami than at WSU. More yards and TDs with less attempts. No comparison that we all know.

Morris was the head coach at Incarnate Word with Cam Ward and then took Cam to WSU with him when he took the OC job for a year. He coached Cam for three years.

Eric Morris has continued his offense coaching QB Chandler Morris this year who has passed for 3774 yards.

Also, Oklahoma has a state income tax that will be in that higher percent at 4.75 for Mateer while Florida does not have an individual income tax.

Eric Morris also landed Poff, they had a good time at Heisman

That is awesome. They got to put one of Mateer in this picture with the A team. I guess Chandler Morris who is a Junior at North Texas must be thinking about going pro next year. He is the number five QB in the country as far as stats.

In the portal era I'm not sure you really have an idea of what kind of team you'll be in unless you wait quite a while like Cam did. We could have 3 new WRs, a new TE, and several new OL before it's all said and done. OU will look much different because of the portal as well.

This is a done deal to OU with the Off Coordinator and QB coach there….he’ll use miami to increase market but overall will waste our time. Miami has nooo chance here the coaches who earned his trust already in OU.

I certainly wasn't expecting this long-game troll.

You join 9 years ago, post twice a year, and then all of a sudden you have vigor and opinions when it comes to Miami going after our top Portal target.

Impressive.

Feel free to post less.

All the noise about OU would have him signed today.... This is a done deal.... Well, Mario obviously is got his and his team's ear. Not saying anything is a "done deal", but all the OU its a "done deal" obviously wasn't true, so why folks would hang on the ear of folks that were obviously wrong is amusing.

We have 2 Texas kids that will be drafted this year in Ward and Arroyo. We need to have them in his ear! He is from Little Elm which is a Dallas suburb.

That isn’t going to change overnight!!!
They’re not going to be able to get enough transfers to fix this unit! Plus no talent at WR!! Ain’t no way I’m going there if I’m him!!
Exactly! Mateer would be a complete fool to go to OU over Miami with OUs terrible OL and dearth of skill talent.
