Kiko Mauigoa: “Virginia Tech has a really good team, 2-2 is very misleading.”

Exactly. Taking opponents lightly is the death knell of past Miami teams. This team is built differently, so I fully expect 40+ from our offense and 21- from our defense. But Kiko is right to say you need to take Va Tech seriously. The Hokies have underperformed to their talent level. That defense should be playing a lot better. They've got quality edge rushers, solid LBers, NFL level DBs. Passing on them should be a lot harder than our first four games.

My expectation is that with Rivers back, we stonewall their pass rush and Cam picks them apart especially on the perimeter in the pass game, and our bigger mass up front wears them down in the run game like it has other teams. But if we come out like we did in the first half of USF or that second quarter of FAMU for a whole game, it's going to be a problem.

Totally agree. Stats wise Va Tech doesn't match up well against Miami with a poor pass blocking line, terrible against 3rd downs and they have gotten off to very slow starts in both the Vandy and Rutgers game. I got Miami winning 38-17 but that darn PTSD is real with me. I don't know why but I'm nervous about this game

Exactly, every mfer always wants to beat us, when we play like this it’s even greater. We in turn need to crush these cucks. Rip out their hearts and eat their f**king souls. They hate us, want to take what we have, make us Less Than. There are no easy games. Every game, every team we play are ther for one reason, Beat the U. Our mission is to make them, their kids, their parents, their fans to never have those thoughts , ever again. Let’s play ball🙌🏽Go Canes #CANESNATIONLIFER

Thats a great point. I also forgot that we're mostly everybody on our schedule super bowl game. Look at South Florida that threw out every trick in the book in the first half against us

You have good taste in liquor and friends. Was your Persian friend making kabobs?
No kabobs. He bought one rib eye, 2 good size fillet, some beef liver. I brought some crab stuffed mushrooms from Lombardis seafood with the orange looking butter sauce. Also brought some big portobello mushrooms which he had never had. He cuts all the steak into pretty small and thin strips and he marinates them. He loves smoked paprika and he had some from his country. Really good chit. We set up shop right next to the grill and he just cooks them super hot and real quick. He cooks 2 to 3 small bites for each of us at a time. He also makes this greek yogurt type of tzatziki sauce that we put into a cucumber salad. It's a different kind of cucumber as well. But we just eat slowly and enjoy the food. It's a really nice way to eat foods off the grill . Everything is always hot and we switch up what we're eating so it's a nice experience. Lots of different things to taste. Like the beef liver which I had never had before.

MY BAD. Went to pool league early last night to get some practice and it turned into a shot marathon. Shots of whiskey that is. Still got a rackless last night. Missed 8 on break twice by about half an inch.
I remember beating you in Orlando

not same player any more. lol . im a 4 now and close to getting moved to a 5. We lost in the finals in a major tournament because we didnt have enough players. Would have won about 11k and would have been off to Vegas.

Vtech went to ot with Vandy, lost by 3 vs rutgers had 3 turnovers and a safety. They get off to slow starts but they are a solid acc team that we shouldn’t take lightly. Must play a complete game
We definitely helped their slow starts lol

They aren't good but they are the type of ******** to embarrass the ACC and ruin the hype for this game then come in to the Rock and play their best game of the year after messing up against Rutgers and Vandy.
Of course Drones comes in and is dodging every sack and making plays like this:

Next time do that in the OOC and come in 4-0 with some hype.

I don’t think we took them lightly but I do think VT had more energy. Rivers still missing hurt bigtime, and we couldn’t diagnose their blitzes. Our offense scored nearly 40. But let’s face it also contributed to 14+ the other way. Not the juggernaut it should be.

And our defense didn’t have an answer to Drones while Vandy and Rutgers were mostly able to contain him. We should have been collapsing their line like we did UF’s. But on many plays we couldn’t get through, and on those we did, Drones beat us more often than not. Kid was a warrior out there.

This stood out to me as him saying the culture wasn't there last year. I would like to know what has changed to see that growth? Hopefully not JUST Cam, but something more sustainable has been put in place.
Lance, after reading this and seeing what we saw Saturday, I feel like this was a major proof of concept. Any thoughts coming off the game? Good luck to the Phins tonight, I don’t let them hurt me anymore but I know you’re still fully invested!

Totally agree that this was proof of that character he spoke of. I've seen so many times the Canes kind of pack it in when things go poorly like this.

This was an absolute Sisyphus game, where you are pushing that boulder back up so many times and it keeps rolling right back down. They refused to stop pushing and found a way. I'd have encouraged even if the final call had gone against them, but it's nice to see character in action with this program.

I've felt all along this is a good/very good team. They are not an elite team. They are not the Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State level of stacking several strong classes on top of each other plus the culture already being there for the program (think of what Georgia showed in that second half vs. Alabama). This team will probably lose a game prior to the ACCCG. When it does, I'll be disappointed, but it won't be logical because variance will bite a good/not elite team most years.

I'm just having so much fun watching a program look the way it should, fight the way it should, and win the way it should after so long away.

As for the Dolphins, McDaniel hoodwinked me. Something Danny has preached for years about a baseline of toughness in football being a prerequisite and McD doesn't instill that or believe in it (or both). They won't win the way they're built. Tua made McD, not the other way around, but now you can't rely on Tua due to the concussions. Tough scene. Wish I could quit them sometimes.

1000%.

If those teams are a 9/10, I would say we are a solid 7.5 - the difference to me would be that Cam's ceiling can help narrow some of that gap to a 8 or so.

If that makes sense.
