I don't think processing a Columbus kid out of the class is tough at at. Columbus coach is very good friends with Mario and Maribel. A conversation will take place and Mario will let the optics look like App State or SMU flipped a kid from Miami's backyard and from Mario's Alma mater...that narrative won't matter.

I don't see Russell sticking around this class. I wouldn't be surprised if he is only a commit at the moment in name alone and not in practice.
The Columbus coach should be happy Miami is still offering his players. I don’t think we’ve signed a decent kid from there since Deon Bush.

his hips are stiff; DT all the way.

He has a nice first step and looks strong with the bull rush.

I think he can be developed.
Interesting take as I haven’t seen much of a bull rush. Far more standing up, engaging the tackle, disengaging, and running to make a tackle. He has the speed to shoot a gap as a DT but I’m not sure he will have the motor to do it often.

I don’t think so. I don’t remember now but my question about his size was more about his build than height. But from my recollection he’s likely somewhere in that 6-6’2” range.

Listed at 6’2” so realistically he’s probably 6’1” and quarter ranged.

Different coach and if players are worthy of a scholarship (Fitzgerald for instance) then why wouldn't Mario offer?

I'm not sure this kid is worthy of a scholarship. Usually coaches are upfront with fringe takes anyway. Or at least they should be. "Hey, we'd like to sign you but only as a backup plan". I'd have to assume that this arrangement was understood.

The fact that we are still pushing for McCray, Booker, Stone, breland… says this kid is a place holder. If we completely strikeout, he gets a spot. If we keep winning and 2 others want on board, we nicely let him find another home.

If you mean Russel...I agree and hopefully he is processed (I think he will).

You weren't referring to Fitzgerald right?

I don't think Booker should be mentioned in that group not even sure if he will have the weight to be a full time DE. If we can get 2 of the other 3 though that would be major. At this point I'd be happy if we signed 1 out of the 3 though and kept Jones.

Booker is a Jack. I don't view him as a replacement for Russel. I just think you take the best talent available for the group.

Plus we’re looking to flip the Pitt commit and just recently offered Nasir Smith from Grayson
