CB Tim Merritt commits to Miami

Miami landed one of the fastest risers in the South with the commitment of DB Tim Merritt (Birmingham, AL). The 6’1, 185 pounder, who also has a basketball background, chose Miami over Auburn, Arkansas and Tennessee.

As first reported a month ago in The Bank, Merritt was identified as a major priority for the Canes. The staff values his IQ, length and twitchiness, which gives allows him to be a versatile piece in the backend. Merritt played safety as a junior and will play CB as a senior. Miami likes him at both but he will start as a CB.

Merritt is the 7th commitment in Miami’s class, joining QB Luke Nickel, RB Girard Pringle, TEs Brock Schott and Luka Gilbert, OG TK Muex and LB Elijah Melendez.

Is Mario just letting it happen or is this why he needs to bring in more structure to the organization because he can’t do everything? We were all told that MC was going to bring more structure to the organization but the end of this recruiting cycle sure feels like those from the past.

Recruiting in today's day & age is 75% drama, 25% negotiations.

Gonna be a rough couple of classes coming in the next few years if we're not willing to duke it out on the trail for prospects in positions of need.

kid is mad because he was too much drama. My understanding early on the staff legit said he wasnt worth the drama. the kids who are bitter and put on a show dont do anything.

Hanks was a legit loss. Dallas Wilson was a legit loss. this kid wasnt.
