I have a question: would we consider this kid a similar type to Arnoux? And if so, which one would we rather?
They both are slow and not what we need but Ewald is local but I’m not sure that even matters anymore anyway.
Does either have a more athletic younger brother or best friend that can run sub 4.5? That would be my pick.
I pray their is better DB talent in the portal this off season. We are going shopping for a backfield and we better be looking to overspend to get it. It's gotten even crazier. I can only laugh with what is happening with recruiting. Their are so many great HC recruiters today. It's like it's almost unbelievable.

M Williams hasnt developed
not one DB has come in and developed and gotten progressively better
the last DB coach that showed development was either Rumph or Banda
i bet OJ will shine this year and then plateau or even regress

Fair enough...and I know that this might be apples and oranges due to where they're at in terms of their development (i.e. one is a late bloomer and one seems to have plateaued)...but would you have called OJ a JAG this time last year? Because I know I would have.
Willing tackler, long arms, and knows how to fight the receiver through the catch to break up passes. From the couple of times I have seen him live, seems physically and mentally tough (he got Toney off his game last year).
Beyond that, I don't have much good things to say, and those highlights were more bad throws than good plays. He's beat on some of them, but the ball placement is either late or inaccurate. Against better QBs and WRs....

The likelihood we solve the DB problem in the portal is very very small. As Dmoney say's every bank episode, this position group is going to be solved through high school recruiting
there are 5 div 1 wrs on that clip. (Ole Miss, Fau, a pending Notre Dame Commit, the other two are juniors who likely end up power 5)
Thats the difference between CJ and other guys....hes been going against big players for a looooongg time..other folks film are filled with door dash guys.
CJ ceiling i shigher than current starters..wherever OJ went for s&c after sta is where CJ needs to be. Thats the next level im awaiting to see him with more s&c size...as far as the technical aspect of the game he'll be ahead of alot of freshman incoming dbs. His frame can hold the weight similar to OJ as well.
Hes a prop joe kid so im gonna be on here going to war about him....and as stated ..80% of the board didnt like the OJ and Ryan Mack takes either. OJ has brought dividends extremely quick.

He's not starter quality. He's a bum. We have one player, Patterson, who might be starter quality next year.
If not 2 starters from the portal, then we must land Ben Hanks. Non-negotiable if we want to fix the position.

They NEED to fix it with portal guys...they need plug n play with experience. Maybe 2 safeties and at minimum one corner.
They need to over pay if they have to but thats whats needed.

Just imagine this secondary witout Powell considering you guys were screaming with tears of joy for Kam Kinchens and James Williams to go.
If I wasn't mistaken, wasn't Powell a top 5 safety out of the portal? There is a very low chance we can get a quality safety out of the portal, let a lone. I hope I'm wrong. Dmoney said it best, dbs are going to primarily be resolved out of hs

Both, two starters and Hanks. I want Hanks more than Pickett. Hanks is a legit CB. I’m not sure where Pickett ends up on the field. We need a real CB
As bad as the db play has been ...dude still has 4 picks with more games remaining.
Athletically he isnt what were use to....but the main disappointment is who plays next to him. I would take Meesh Powell out of the portal next year as well.
Thinking it s alow chance we get a safety out of the portal is silly...especially considering that your expecting a hs safety come in and be better. When our dc doesnt like to play young guys all to much and especially not at safety.
DMONEY is speaking long term through high school recruiting....these mfers better have 4 portal dbs lined up by spring or they will be fired for fielding bs two years in a row.
I wasn't one of the guys who had joy at their departure. I consistently warned about how bad our DBs were in the offseason. I also highlighted how awful our LBs wre against the pass, including Kiko, who this board seemed to regard as the next Junior Seau.
