Canes offer Miami (OH) transfer WR Reggie Virgil

The Portal is officially open, and the Hurricanes were quick to extend an offer to fast-rising Miami (OH) transfer WR Reggie Virgil.

The 6'4, 190-pound Apopka, FL native played primarily special teams his first two seasons (2 total catches) before exploding as a junior. On the season, Virgil made 41 catches for 819 yards (19.9 YPC) and 9 TDs.

Virgil attended Mount Dora Christian Academy, where he was a low three-star recruit and the 238th-ranked recruit in Florida. He was a two-time team captain and a three-sport star (football, basketball and track). On the field, he had 46 catches for 946 yards and 10 TDs to go with 1,019 yards and seven scores on the ground. On the track, he has personal records of 22'7 in the long jump, 6'6 in the high jump, and 15.56 in the 110M Hurdles.

Virgil also holds offers from Florida State, Florida, and Oklahoma.

Same with football...how many 80 yard plays are there in a season...lets get guys who can cut and get 6-8. Receivers who catch a 10 yd route, make one more and get 20. Or if they catch the ball with a step on a guy they dont get caught due to that burst right after the catch.

Interesting point of fact: For a player in the front seven on defense, the distance someone moves on an AVERAGE play from their initial alignment at the snap, until the play is dead .... is under 14 yards.

For DB's it's more, but not much more so on average.

On offense, it's under 12 yards. With the exception of the X and Z, where it's more, but again, on average, not extraordinarily so. More like +/- 16 yards.

So, yes, obsessing over how fast a guy is running 60 yards downfield, while nice to know, and not without some value, doesn't tell the whole story. No even close.

The staff just needs to put together a list together of all the fastest guys and recruit who the best one out of those guys are. The only problem is, who has the eye for speed.

X was the conferences leading WR (slot merchants also excel with these slow ******* corners in this conference)

Meeks is 6'2", Brooks is 6'3", Pena is a slot merchant, Gadsen is a big tall slot WR that plays "TE", Ayomanor is 6'2", Fields in Virginia is 6'4", Pancol at Duke is 6'3"...

Tallboys do well in this conference.

Why would any kid base their decision based on message board filled with ppl who never played or didn’t play beyond high school. Only other posters take this place that serious
