Trader needs to start next season! We can't keep having 4 and 5 star south Florida kids transfer out or not get developed here.
If he earns it then he starts. Plus injuries always happen so he will no doubt get reps next year.

Yup. IU is in the CFP with a QB from Ohio U and 13 James Madison transfers.
G5 does have good players, absolutely they do. But when Indiana played a team (Ohio State) that we’re aiming to be on an equal level to “talent” wise they took an L and the talent gap was noticeable if you watched the game.

Some kids are late bloomers (physically/academically), I know that and will admit that. This kid could very well be one of them but for the most part it’s a reason he’s not at Texas, Georgia, Oregon, Ohio State, Tennessee or any other power 5 school.

They (Indiana) looked good against Purdue, Northwestern, etc. though.

All fair points. I do think IU has pretty good skill players. Not on par with most playoff teams, but not entirely out of place either. They were completely overmatched at the LOS against OSU on offense. Rourke was basically toast immediately after he dropped back from 2Q on. That to me was the most consequential talent disparity between IU and OSU. And there was little opportunity for the skill players to do anything.

I do think IU has players from G5 that would start at UM, at least on defense. Ponds and Kamari for sure. Maybe West and Fisher. OSU only had 316 yards basically with 2 special teams TDs and a late style points TD after an onside kick try.

Overall, I think P4 players who have produced are the safest bet. I think G5 players who have produced in many cases might be better bets than P4 players who were highly rated but have not produced. FSU is a good case study.

Evals are obviously important, and it seems we are good at some position groups and need improvement at others. I do trust Dawson to pick the right QB—frankly not too worried about that.

This guy and Singleton or Setagna will fit the bill.

Great points!

I don’t mind taking a few here and there but G5 players and lower tier P4 don’t need to be our only targets all the time or our bread and butter. Some of these 4 and 5 star kids in the portal we just recruited 12 months ago, and a year later we don’t go after them (at least as far as the fans know)? Unless we’re holding recruiting grudges….

Is every G5 player an absolute sh*thole now or something?

800+ yards receiving, 9 TDs, and a big body at 6'4 is nothing to snuff at. Like what world do you guys live in?

Some weird takes here.
they want every player we offer in the portal at wr to be randy moss smh wake up!

It's cause people mistake speed for explosiveness.

Tyquan Thornton ran a 4.23. Doesn't really help when he has no lateral quickness whatsoever.

Thorton was a 2nd round pick… when’s the last time Miami had a WR drafted that high was a decade ago in Phillip Dorsett

Yeah and he was a **** eval from a team who can't evaluate WR to save their lives.

Buddy has less than 400 receiving yards in his career. Not sure if this is the hill you’d like to die on….

Straight line speed is not overly important for WR.

Busted in the nfl, but I’ll take 2500 college receiving yards for a career and a 4.2 40 on this roster any day of the week.
