It's cause people mistake speed for explosiveness.

Tyquan Thornton ran a 4.23. Doesn't really help when he has no lateral quickness whatsoever.
#24 that just transferred fits this description perfectly

Yeah and he was a **** eval from a team who can't evaluate WR to save their lives.

I'd take a player like him on this roster any day of the week. Miami only takes guys 4.5 and up wonders why there are no explosive plays

Busted in the nfl, but I’ll take 2500 college receiving yards for a career and a 4.2 40 on this roster any day of the week.

Now the NFL doesn’t matter? Why bring up draft position?

With 2,200 he joins the elite elite company of thousands of college WRs with similar stats.

550 and 5 TDs a season is production you can get from kids all over the country.

Cis immediately dismissing G5 players.

A lot of y’all would be absolutely shook if they heard the Monday Night Football introductions for the starting lineups
This is not about the subject of the OP, but in general:

Give me guys who played high FBS snaps and produced, not benchwarmers at big schools. If we're taking a guy like that, it better be a QB/DL/CB with elite tools and a legit excuse for not playing.

This. FSU won two games last year in large part because their portal strategy was taking unproven/highly recruited kids from big programs. Production trumps all.

Curt Cignetti from Indy had a recent interview where he talked about the importance of short area burst, lateral agility for skill players vs pure straight line speed and many on this board would benefit greatly from listening to that.
I've mentioned this on the baseball forum. Coaches would get all excited when a kid ran a 6.5 straight line 60. Who cares...when you do you run that far in a straight line in baseball. I looked for sub 1.6 10yd. and if it was 1.5...oh boy. Those guys tore up the t drill typically too.

Same with football...how many 80 yard plays are there in a season...lets get guys who can cut and get 6-8. Receivers who catch a 10 yd route, make one more and get 20. Or if they catch the ball with a step on a guy they dont get caught due to that burst right after the catch.

I brought up NFL because he is knocking a guy who while is fast, still got drafted higher than any cane WR in a decade and counting . What they do after they get drafted matters, but he also went to where WRs go to die.

I also don’t think either of us want to Derail this thread so agree to disagree

Y'all would ***** because he can't run a slant, let alone any lateral route.

And Braxion Berrios has better stats compared to the same guy. Your point is?

I'm not sure what we're even arguing here, if you now want to point to a complete bust in the NFL, who got drafted ahead of George Pickens (!!!) as someone whom we need just because he runs a 4.2, I can give you a very long list of receivers who ran above 4.48 and produced a **** of a lot more. Give me the short area quickness over straight line speed any day of the week. Xavier Restrepo will be drafted below Thornton, whom would you rather have on this team?

Josh Gordon ran a 4.52, I am pretty **** sure nobody questioned his speed in the NFL. Talk about a luxury problem...

Is every G5 player an absolute sh*thole now or something?

800+ yards receiving, 9 TDs, and a big body at 6'4 is nothing to snuff at. Like what world do you guys live in?

Some weird takes here.
Why would any kid that reads this crap want to come here. Mfer’s are never satisfied . Could be Balls deep in a major league POA, and you’re disappointed bc she didn’t shout out F**k Me, Daddy loud enough. JFC, this is some sorry S**t

that second catch in the video would have made me offer.

Kid looks the goods to me...florida native...lock him in then go big game hunting for 1 if Brown doesnt return.

Yes. And he is aware that Florida has no personal income tax.

Hopefully this is the message you are hearing from MC and team and not just your opinion.

We like slow players. Does any coaches have an eye for speed? Holy f uck!
He ran a 11.5 in HS once don't know why they keep hyping up his speed. I can understand them adding him for size and catching ability not as true deep threat.

All these exotic wr’s on the market and our only offer is Reggie? I guess so…
