Anybody know what a Miami OC earns and what an NFL OC gets?
Just interested...would a Miami OC get $300,000 and an NFL OC $600,000?

Fisch was probably closer to 500k here. NFL OC's make well over a million. **** there are SEC coordinators that are making a million.

One of the big questions here will be how quickly Morris can pick up a new system. Although he had his ups and downs throughout the season, we were looking at a senior QB working in his third year of a system he understands extremely well. That is no longer the case.

the timing is not ideal from a recruiting standpoint, but i also think it's being overstated in this thread. miami's identity as a pro style team is pretty vague, and from a relationship standpoint, coordinators aren't that important in recruiting. no one on this board has typed "fisch is gonna close the deal!!!" at any point with regards to alex collins.

from a hiring standpoint... coaches will drop everything to take a job if it's better for them. mcdonald to cuse is just one example.

Not the first thing I wanted to hear in the morning. Not good for recruiting , and not good for the offense in having to learn a new system.

**** is disrespectful on the part of Fisch. Had he left at the end of the season, everything would have been fine. Had he left after signing day, everything would have been fine. But instead, the dude leaves Golden high and dry less than two weeks before signing day, in a year where a lack of turnover among our coaches has been a major selling point of the program. He knew all this ****, and instead of accepting the promotion and keeping it under wraps for a couple weeks (communicating his acceptance of it to both Golden and the Jags organization, of course), he just had to leave right now.

IMO, **** him. What a douchebag.

I understand, you personally turn down huge promotions and huge raises out of loyalty, right?

******* this, unfortunately.

That said, I hope AG doesn't promote from within - Richardson? - merely to keep continuity, thinking that we have a shot at a ring this year. It's far more important to go get a quality coach who can keep momentum moving forward for the long haul. I don't think Al would do that. I'm just saying.

Very poor timing. But this the double edged sword of actually having a competent staff, but the university being unwilling or unable to pay market value to keep them together.

Lame attempt to blame the university for a gator doing what a gator does. On top of that, all programs lose corches to the NFL.

And a more pathetic attempt to pass the entire situation off on his college affiliation, then follow it up with actual plausible logic. If all programs have this happen, then it isn't just Gator thing is it?

And if you think this university pays market value for what we think the level of this program should be, then your sadly mistaken.

Fugg gators. And this had nothing to do with pay. Carry on though with the lame anti-UM rhetoric.

I have never seen a more reactionary, insulated to the point of paranoia group of people in my life!

Pointing out that historically UM has been unable to keep pace over time with coaching salaries, particularly among assistants, is now anti-UM rhetoric?

Jesus H. Is it also anti-UM to say that the Cane defense has been less than stellar over the last two years? That Dorsett has issues with drops? That the athletic department has had problems with leadership and fund raising?

I am a big Jedd Fisch fan. The timing of this move sucks.

That being said, everyone is REALLY blowing his coaching abilities out of proportion.

We out 13 pts at Kansas State, 3 against ND, and 20 against FSU. The three top defenses we faced. And both KS and FSU include a gimme TD with less than 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter. That is a 12 pt avg. per game or 7 pts per game if you take out the late TD when the game was over. And quite frankly, where would this offense have been without Duke Johnson? What about Fisch's redzone issues?

The continuity part of the equation hurts the most. But you know Golden will find a very suitable replacement and we will move on without a hitch.

if anything fisch was underrated. we were one of only 12 teams to average 6 yards per play in the last two seasons. only team in florida. only team in acc besides georgia tech. with a bunch of random WRs and an erratic QB.

The attacks on Fisch are entirely unwarranted. He just got promoted to an NFL offensive coordinator position - one of 32 in the world. This is a big-time promotion, both financially and professionally.

All the best to him. While the timing is unfortunate for us, i trust Golden to find an outstanding replacement.

Continuity and potential is what sucks IMO. Lots of first year players in this offense last year and while it was inconsistent, sometimes it looked downright scary (good)

For some reason, I'm not terribly worried about the actual playcalling now, but more the coaching of QBs. We all saw what he can do with them and we need to hire someone who can do the same.

Yes, great point. He helped resurrect Jacory from the dead and obviously made big strides with Morris even though he missed the spring.

Best of luck to Jedd. I understand the thinking, don't get me wrong, but personally I'd rather coach Stephen Morris than Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. Then again, I'm just a high school corch.

Why do a lot of people think the entire system has to be changed. If Al thinks this system works he will tell the new OC to keep it but just add on with his wrinkle it happens all the time. Baltimore is a game away from a Super Bowl and change their OC after mid-season and for someone who came over from spending a decade with another team

do we have the QB's to fit helfrich's system

Doesn't really matter. That O is set on having a dynamic QB. They need one just to keep the D honest enough,

But Golden isn't going to change his philosophy, so this is out of the question. Besides he is going to get the Oregon job.
