Your reaction when we kicked the FG down seven with 3:42 remaining

It was a concession. I was shocked we didn’t go for a TD. I knew instantly the game was over with almost four minutes on the clock. There was no way we were going to stop them from either running the clock or scoring. We haven’t shown we are capable all game, and most of the year that this defense can get a stop, no matter the opponent.

Either way you had to make 1 stop on D (if you didn't get it).

At first, I thought fg since it was on ten.

In hindsight, (yes it's fickle), think I go for it.

But then again, they would have had 3 mins and 3 timeouts to go get 3

Kicking the FG made no sense. We used so much time on that drive that we had to go for a TD there with how our defense was playing. 10yards out not great chance on 1 play, but the best we could a hoped for with our defense and punt not return was to get the ball back on our 35 or worse with no TOs and like 90 seconds left needing a TD.

It was a **** situation cause of #3's idiot penalty but Coach made wrong choice there. Bigger issue I have is not just handing the ball off to #6, four times if we needed to, 1st & goal from the 8. Crazy that Martinez only got 10 carries in a game that Cuse couldn't stop him (and we couldn't stop 'Cuse).

That's what you guys are focused on??

Say we score a touchdown to tie it up. What do you think they're going to do when they get the ball? They're still driving the field for the win.
All the things that happened, that's was the least of my concerns.

I believe the thinking was 2 for 1 and we'd get the ball at the end with the amount of time left vs going for it and the game being over if we don't score.

That’s the issue…. You’re relying on a defense that hasn’t shown any signs of stopping anything…. ALL SEASON. I would 100% have gone down with Ward (the best QB we’ve had in generations) trying to make a play, rather than hoping the defense would make a stop…..
All of this...Go down with your best player....

The only strategy was to go for the TD on 4th down.
Sure. I edited my post. They have 3 minutes and 3 time outs to get 3. We didn't stop them once post 2nd qtr. And ****, they almost got in fg range just trying to drain the clock, lol.

The real answer was we should have been running hurry up non stop to score and have 6-7 mins on the clock. And hope you end the game with the ball in cam's hands

Was it the right decision? Depends on the team. A team with a solid defense, **** yeah it's the right decision. it was 4th and goal from the 9. There's no margin for error. You can't pick up a first down. It's TD or bust. You can't run the ball. So, it's passing TD or bust. So, yes normal teams kick it and get the 3 points, and then stop three consecutive run plays to get the ball back.

But our team? No, we should have went for it. With the ACC championship game on the line, Mario should have went for it. Put the ball in the hands of your best player (i.e., Cam), not in the hands of the worst part of your team (i.e., Guidry and defense).

Teams that have good defenses do what Mario did. They kick it. Mario trusted our defense, and that was the mistake.

The team was up 21-0 at the start of the 2nd quarter. We got outscored 42-17 after. We have the best QB in the nation. A running back (Martinez) that they couldn't stop. Like they literally couldn't stop him (10 carries for 84 yards). We didn't lose because of the decision to kick FG, we lost because we have to give 2 backs equal carries when it's obvious that 1 RB is having a way superior game than the other. Sam Brown dropped a HUGE 3rd down pass. Horton didn't even attempt to catch a slant. X fumbled and they returned it for a TD. George and Moten had two very bad, even fatal penalties. And of course, the defense is atrocious.
