You only get so many chances

It was nice to meet you Dmoney at the Cal pre-game bar. 1983cane.

Yes our offense was good this year but part of that was Cam made miracles and it doesn't necessarily mean that our offense is going to be defined by his play. He also simply f***** up plays by holding on the ball or doing weird scrambles.

BUT.

In, watching Miami play for over 40 years.

Our Defense plays like soft tissue. It has been like that for almost 25 years. Miami is going to only be as good as our defense, that was our signature back in the day.

Figure it out Miami.

For all of those that have not met him yet, he's a good dude. Dmoney, cordial man. Gracious to even us Caniacs.

Staff changes will be interesting.

There is no reason to keep Guidry past ESD. None. Elevate someone and promote one of the off-the field assistants for the bowl game. There is nothing to lose. I suspect Cam and many draft eligible players will opt out anyway.

Do not wait until February late March.

Spend and hire an upper-tier DC from a P4/P2 conference and let him evaluate the entire position staff. Consider younger NFL position coaches if highly recommended.

Honest question, what is the point of these post-mortem writeups that you do in which you basically state the obvious sprinkled in with downright silly pie-in-the-sky foolery? Do people actually pay you for this? There is no progress. They are 10-2 with a weak schedule. They proved the critics right. They are a fraud. This is 2017 all over again and we will regress to 7-5 next year with Notre Dame, Florida, SMU on the schedule and most importantly, no Cameron Ward. We're going nowhere. I told you what it was after Georgia Tech that we would lose today. They are not prepared. They never will be with a Grunt like Mario at the helm. He lacks intelligence. He's a recruiter and even then he cannot recruit elite secondary players after three years..

This season ended in disappointment for what could have been. Should have been. I realized by the end of the Louisville game it wasn't happening with this D. We all knew coming in Mario had his flaws as a coach. It was a great season while ending in disappointment. To much alcohol talk on GameDay.
My low point was when Blake hired Manny within hours. I literally took all my U football stuff down. I had just had it with awful decisions.
We now for the very 1st time have a President, legit AD and HC all in line. We have big money being spent on the program. We have our best recruiting classes in back to back and about to have a 3rd. We just won 10 games with yes, a disappointing ending to our season.
It will take 2 more years of disappointment for me to turn on this. I don't see it happening. It better work or Mario is going to physically break down with the time and effort he is putting in this. I still see better days ahead.
It is awful to waste our best QB and O ever because the D was that bad. Their are more issues than D, but D and penalties are by far the biggest issues. Like one of the worst at both. It hurts, but being sober today sure helps.

This one hurts deep in the soul. We had a chance for a special season and blew it. Every November feels the same for the past 20 years.

I'll dig deeper on rewatch, but my big picture view is this: Miami ultimately fell to its true level. We won games we could've lost, and we lost games we could've won. At the end, we were who we were all year.

We have a national championship offense. We have a bad defense. And we lack discipline overall. We came into this game ranked 120th in penalty yards per game. With the season on the line, we made two of the most immature penalties in team history. That was not a fluke.

Add it all up, and you get 10-2. Do I expect major defensive staff changes? Yes. But that isn't the only area we need to improve.

Mario ultimately owns all of it. He missed a rare opportunity. Now, the ownership cuts both ways- you can't blame him for the defensive misses and then ignore the strength of the offense. We were blessed to have Cam Ward, but he also landed Cam Ward and built his supporting cast. The question now becomes whether we can improve elsewhere enough to compensate for the loss of such a unique and special player.

This season will be remembered one of two ways: the beginning of something sustainable, or a fun, ultimately disappointing fluke like 2017. For true progress, this team needs to remake its defensive identity. You can fire coaches and recruit better DBs. But when you get bowled over by an Arena League running back with the season on the line, that's a cultural issue. When you look confused all year, it's deeper than talent. We had four NFL players in the 2022 secondary, and it looked just as lost as it did this year.

Was there progress? Of course. Should anyone expect us to build on that progress? That's a hard sell. The fanbase has every reason to be cynical. But none of us are going anywhere, so let's hope the build continues and we have enough material to tell lies this summer.

Not going anywhere?

Speak for yourself.

I’m done with this **** show.

I’ve given enough to this program, especially over the last 2 years. Enough is enough.

I’m walking away from this **** heap. I sugggest you do the same.

CJ Bailey is going to be the QB.

8-4 is probably about right unless that decision includes Jeremiah Smith as a package deal. (And it doesn’t)
lol holy ..I hope CJ Bailey isn’t the answer for next year ..he has good potential but like u said he’s only worth it next year if JJ is coming with him

How much more money will it take?

That’s the only question that matters and the only question that should be asked. If that number can be met, great. If it can’t, just admit it and stop making excuses to cover that up.
Where do You think Miami ranks nationally in money spent on football?

Going into year 4 with an 8 million dollar coach and we’re still talking about discipline and culture problems.

We had a cupcake schedule and still couldn’t make it to the ACC title game. SMU has as many appearances in that game as Miami and they’ve been in the conference 20 fewer seasons…and they’re doing it with several Miami rejects.

Good luck to Mario trying to sell his image for Miami.

Depends on who we have at QB
I’m guessing 8-4 since some of the young guys will move up, some of the other teams will lose players, etc. Again with luck…No Luck? 5-7.
