You can't use that "x happened with team A, so team B will be able to do it too" rhetoric in football. It's been proven wrong all too often.

First of all, I never said our defense was any good. Second, I said we were gifted 2 to 3 games, just like VT was gifted their game.

We have a top 5 offense when Duke is playing, and our defense is easily in the bottom half of the 120 FBS teams. Probably in the mid 80's, so ****ing really bad.

So what I'm saying is we deserve our record of 8-3, we have a good offense, and a bad defense. The obvious answer to my mind is to make some changes on defense after the season is over and the decision makers have a chance to evaluate options.

Yep, we sure do. You would notice it a lot more if our defense could EVER get off the ******* field and not allow EVERY drive to be a long march to the endzone, we'd put up 60 a game. But pretty much when we do get the ball, we score.

I am not persuaded by those "innovative" statistics.

Do you really believe we have a better offense than FSU, Clemson, Baylor, Alabama, Okl St, and Oregon? It's not even debatable in my view. And the list of better offenses is extensive even after that.

Of course you aren't. Although I can't agree wholeheartedly with the "weighted" averages or strengths of opposing teams since I don't know their methodology, there are certain aspects of many of the stats which are compelling. One other thing to keep in mind is that the developer of that site isn't a Miami homer or defender of Coley. The same methods applied to Miami were applied to all the others. Point being, our offense is not even a contributing factor to the ****tyness of our defense.

i agree and disagree w this. our drives were stalling even w duke in games so its not just an isolated incident bc we lost our best player. i do agree tho that we win the game in a shootout w Duke since him and coley r the only two guys that can takeover games by themselves.

Please dude, take your pom-poms off. There's DEFINITELY such thing as gifted wins. When your CB is nowhere near a WR and the ball bounces off the WR's hands and into your CB's hands for a game-sealing interception, that's a gift.

Our offense put up 565 yards, had more first downs than Duke and Dallas Crawford had 115 yards rushing with over 6 yards per carry (pretty **** good). The problem is giving up 350+ rushing to Duke, a team that only averages 179/game (that includes our game, 161/game excluding our game)

agreed...but clearly not enough to stop Duke's offense. Against UVA, NO'D was saying how his defense ran 99 plays, he was basically throwing the offense under the bus. Yet, if his unit would learn to tackle, take the proper angles, and team tackle PROPERLY the D would've had only 50 or so plays.
