When watching our games do you truly feel we are 8-3? Has a feeling of 5-5 at best and that is why this board is in uproar. We struggle with lousy teams and make them look good. Games that matter most we get embarrassed back to back weeks and have gone another year not winning the weak coastal division. We didn't expect a national championship this year but coastal or bust was realistic. We look worse than we did last year and our regression is what we are ****ed about.
That's not how I see it at all man.
Under Randy, we used to beat teams that were better than us and lose to teams we had no business losing to. We overachieved and underachieved.
This year, we handled every team with a losing record, and lost to the three teams that were better than us. And yes, Duke is better than us this year without Johnson and Dorsett.
We've been the same team every week. Unfortunately for us canes fans and our lofty expectations, we're just not that good of a football team right now.
We have lofty goals because it is Miami and expect excellence. If you don't than you aren't a real Cane. Sure there is a reality factor to it and that is why a National Championship is not what we expected. However, we allowed an average UNC to dominate the game with one player, squeak by a below average Wake Forest team at home, make an abysmal VT offense put up 42 on us at home and get spanked by Duke while giving up 350 yards rushing alone.
We are by no means the same team every week. We came out guns blazing, energized and fired up vs Florida. In every ACC game except FSU we have come out flat, uninterested and sluggish. GT, UNC, Wake, FSU, VT and Duke have all had DOUBLE DIGIT leads on us. That is a blueprint for a bad team and I can not believe you think that Duke and VT is better than us. Agree that Duke is better than they have been in the past but good god their players are not better than ours. We beat 1 team under Randy that was better than us which was a Bradfordless OU. The true character of a Randy Shannon team was seen at the Sun Bowl with more concerns of staying warm and throwing snowballs.
