Yearby

Oh don't sleep on Yearby making the NFL. There were many that said the same things about Mike James and he made it.

Eh. "Made it" is kind of a loose term.

This should tighten the term up for you; Roster status: Active Three years and counting. Those are checks Son!!! In the end that's what all the hard work is about.

Those are checks today. Dude gets two touches a game. What will be his income source in 2020?

yearby gets run down from behind in college. i could see them letting gus play because he might transfer. Yearby however, have 2 kids. he might leave for money reasons. i think Homer will be breathing down all their necks next year and Trayone will return in Adrian Peterson fashion from his injury lol

Tried to tell y'all he was leaving over a week ago. Nobody listens. Whether it's a good decision or not idk but he's got 2 kids. He'd probably like to start supporting them financially sooner rather than later

Well if this is true than that would pretty much rule out a transfer since he would have to sit out a year.

I understand his decision. For better or worse, his draft stock isn't going to get better than it is right now. At best, he's a #2 RB on this team and no matter how he trains next year he's not getting any faster. Long speed is always gonna be his downfall. He's got vision, great feet, and is willing pass protector too. He was never going to be a Day1 or even Day 2 guy. He's one of those FA rookies that's gonna have to catch the eye of a coach and hope to make the team.

This decision reminds me a lot of when roscoe parish entered the draft his junior year and left everyone scratching their heads. Locking back at it now, it wasn't a bad decision as he still got to the league and took advantage of opportunities to prove himself. It wasn't like roscoe was gonna grow 5 inches his senior season. He showed what he could do and hoped for a team to take a chance on him.

Nawhl, this situation is much different. The coaching staff for Roscoe didn't deliberately stop playing him. The writing was on the wall during spring we all saw it coming.

Is he going into the work force? Because even guys who have some success in the NFL end up broke in a decade. I can't imagine that spending two seasons on the Browns' scout team is going to provide a whole lot of financial support.

He'll make more money on a scout team than with his degree. I'm sure he'll make a roster at some point. He's too versatile not to.. lots of teams looking for his skill set right now

Not sure if this is serious. He would have a degree for life. People who rely on scout team paychecks are soon wishing they had a degree.

I see you are new to football and don't know much about the position. But besides the long runs that you see on the highlight reels the most important job of the RB is to move the chains, get those first downs and keep the drive going. Yearby has consistently done that throughout his career. In the right system in the NFL teams will use the **** out of his pass catching ability especially as a third down back. Don't get it twisted there are a lot more athletes that do a good job investing their money than what's reported in the media.

LMAO. That's the most clever insult you could come up with?

Let's keep this post archived so we can revisit it in about three years. Based on one social media post this afternoon, Yearby has gone from an afterthought on a mediocre college team to a key back on an NFL team.

People keep saying that, but you don't get a guaranteed spot and a paycheck just because you were really good in high school and now have two kids.

And you don't automatically end up on skid row because you drop out of college to pursue your dreams. ie.. Bill Gates

Right, because Yearby probably has crazy tech skills and is just waiting to start his own company in Silicon Valley.

I have been a proponent of Yearby this year...but if he is seriously considering leaving early for the league that would qualify as one of the most boneheaded shortsighted ill-advised terrible decisions of all time. Just leaving does not in any way guarantee him a roster spot anywhere. He needs to get that degree and keep grinding.

If he's considering a transfer that is a whole different discussion. That may be best for him. I still think he's the best back on our roster but for some reason he found himself in the proverbial doghouse.

Whatever is happening with him, I hope he is successful. I'm not going to hate on him, but I do hope he doesn't make a snap decision that he regrets 5 or 10 years from now.

Another odd point regarding the RB situation - Walton did A LOT of special teams support, especially on punts. Don't recall seeing Gus or Yearby out there, and Walton was considered our starter.

He gonna make 150k right out of college? We'll discuss this when NFL camp starts if he indeed leaves. Seen this stuff too often and know too many people that say the same thing.

My point exactly... Crazy tech skills and Silicon Valley was a pipe dream to his parents, friends and I'm sure some GC at his university... Which is about the same way you view the thought of Yearby and his dreams of the NFL. I mean seriously how many Rookies make teams every year that everyone swears that they don't have a shot?

Great point!! He has great hands and would make a good 3rd down back. He's one cut and up the field.

Holy crap dude. Guys who go straight to scout teams make $150,00 for about two years. Then the income stops. People who have degrees start out making $50,000 and have an increasing income for life.

Who makes a life decision based on one or two years' salary?

So make dumb decisions because "Bill Gates did it!!"
