Yall are Overreacting

I'm not trying to pick on you at all. I just want to know if we have pivoted as a fanbase. Am I the only one on this island that still believes this can be a championship program and at least win the ACC and get to the CFP and be relevant ala Ohio State every year.
I think we can, but it wont be easy in this current landscape. Our 20 year recent history says our culture sucks, and we are a middle pack ACC team.

Now with the growth of SEC and BIG10 super conferences, its making it harder and harder. We are a subpar product in eyes of TV executives, and alot of the players.

ACC has become a feeder league to SEC. Past 2 offseasons weve lost our top or big outside WR to SEC teams.

GT would be one of the favorites to win ACC next season, but loses their best offensive weapon in Singleton to a 5-7 SEC team.

KC conception turns down a slot WR role at Miami(where he would shine in Dawsons offense) to play at Texas A&M, where I can almost guarantee he wont get nearly the touches or production.

Back to our culture, we have a great chance to win 11 games for first time in 20 years, and we have mid round picks and UDFA opting out? Like they could obviously care less.

We have our leader leading fanbase on he is playing in bowl game then he has that stunt pre planned. It caused way more negative attention, did way more harm than good from a national perspective. Watches us lose by 1 from sideline.

A good chunk of our booster money is available because of ties to Mario. That is a reason we are fairly competitive in the NIL market. Yet we have fans trying to get rid of him after he lured Cam here, and had a 10 win season. Fire him, and watch our NIL shrivle.

I definitely don’t think the defense personnel wise is as bad going into next year as it seems now. A new DC might change a lot as far as the perspective of the players’ ability. It was hard to judge the line, especially our edge guys, because we were consistently unsound with gaps pre-snap. Too many slants/stunts running defenders out of the play or funneling inside allowing so many runs to bounce outside. That domino effect affects the second level when you have run/hit linebackers having to come down and be the edge defender when they’re taking on down blocks from players 30-80 lbs heavier. The secondary was what it was, but the lack of pressure compounded that IMO. In limited doses I was impressed with our young Dline talent. Normal rate offseason progression will have this group among the best in the conference/on our schedule. Better scheme will reveal what we have on the second level, also the secondary with the numbers they’re throwing at it

I think the scheme put the defensive line in peril, and I think there will be wholesale changes on that side of the ball as far as players, he’s upgraded the roster every year. Right now it’s a 5-7 roster but we have no reason to assume it stays that way. Something else that hurts in recruiting is conference affiliation. A guy like Concepcion signs with tamu who doesn’t have a better record than we do. But has a better outlook in the eyes of recruits cause they play a more exciting and competitive schedule. Although I love Miami’s schedule this year.

Like OP suggested, we need to hit the portal for 3 (3!!!) staring caliber DB's and a "Stud" LB! what has Mario been doing the last few years?
We’re very close to signing our third starting caliber DB from the portal. Wisconsin is playing games with his transfer but he will be here in the spring. I am 100% positive we will have a transfer quarterback by next season even if we have to overpay for him. Maybe you chase a linebacker but I believe it’s time we start playing the dudes we recruited

This about far more than last night, this is about the current and future state of UM football. Did you not see how pathetic Emory was as the QB with the same OL that Cam had? Mario has blown it with Mateer, Mendoza (whom many on here did not want originally but Curt Cignetti did who is a far better coach), and Mensah...guess he doesn't like QBs that have names that start with "M"...ironic since Mario starts with an "M" and he is a ******* Meathead.

Have you looked at the 2025 schedule? With our QB room, tell me where we get 7 wins from? Mario had the 14th ranked recruiting class following a 10-win season for crying out loud, and his portal signings as a whole over the last few years have been mediocre at best...Cam and Martinez the real exceptions. So yes, there is a multitude of reasons to be down on this team and coaching staff and very little to be optimistic about
Obviously Emory is garbage. Even with a beast line in front and a running game. We need a qb. That’s obvious. We’re not getting a cam. They don’t come around every year. Mario has to fix the qb spot(again) and get us a couple
More dbs and a te and a rb. Then try to add some playmakers. Best you can get regardless of position. We need 8+ wins next year with that schedule to keep it pointing north

Is that the standard now? 10 games with nothing else to show? No national championships, no acc championships, no acc title game appearances, no bowl wins. I think this is the issue with the fanbase. Some are content with 7-5 and the occasional 10-win season. I can say, I certainly expect more than that, especially with the financial investments. If I was content with that, I'd cheer for Rutgers.
10 wins should get us into the playoff every year, this year included.

We will never be a playoff team with a head coach that makes such astonishingly stupid decisions time and time again.

During the last two games, Cristobal has settled for Field Goals in critical situations where his offense is running the ball down the opponent's throat and his defense couldn't make a stop if their lives were dependent upon it.

We knew upon his hire that gameday coaching was not a strength and three seasons in, this notion is validated. This season feels like the high point, even if UM continues to out-recruit its competition. Cristobal is no X's and O's savant and, in all likelihood, we're about to introduce our 3rd defensive coordinator in 4 years. He just isn't good enough.
This is the truth of it and there's no reasonable or logical arguments against it.

We couldn't lick our way in with this year's offense and have a 2019 LSU run? FML we're screwed.

We legit did our first fake punt in God knows how long and this man closed a game deciding drive with a fckn FG.

That level of ineptitude hasn't ever sniffed success. The writings on the MF wall.

Yeah and a center too, and a TE if Dawson wants one. It'll cost a fortune but we were told Miami is spending money and is serious about football. Guess we'll find out.

I don't see the point in a TE. Dawson doesn't know how to employ them, consistently.

Of course we are "Overreacting;" Because we all have Post Traumatic Canes Disorder:

"You gotta give him (first 5, now) 3 years," "All we need is an O-Line," "All we need are corners who can turn on the ball," "The backup Q's are better," "All we need is to stay healthy." "All we need is depth on the D-Line," "All we need is LBs," "All we need is a new (fill in the blank for coordinator)", etc.

Chicken **** stunts don’t go over well with NIL supporters.
