Yall are Overreacting

If we only had an average defense, none of these dialogues would be taking place because we would be playing our bowl game on Wednesday in the playoff. Yes, I’m aware that if my Aunt Caitlyn had a 🍆, she would be my Uncle Bruce, but that veggie has been chopped.

Not downplaying the success, if that’s what you’re referring to. Just his comment about the hardest part. My point is, it takes more than a good QB.
Agree, can have a good/great QB, but w/o an offensive line, he’ll be good for nothing if he’s getting A**beat every other play. The line of scrimmage is the foundation OL/DL. RB’s/WR your Bread and Butter, QB your Special Sauce… man I’m hungry.

Maybe Mario can convince Pitbull on naming right to HRS...

The sooner y’all realize The U will never be back, the better for y’all’s mental health. They suck and it is what it is. I’m to the point where if we go to a bowl game it’s a success. We probably won’t win em but atleast we make em
Do I think we will be back to dominating, no, not in this college football world nowadays. However, I do believe that we should be beating teams who are inferior to us, have less ranked players than us, and so on. I would like to be relevant again and we were until the GT game and even before that we were getting attention both good and bad, the bad stemming from the VT and Cal games. I don’t think it’s to much to ask to not get beat by lesser talented teams but the last 20 years have proved that wrong. We had a decent season (some say) finishing 10-3 but it’s the way we finished to get to 10-3 is what everyone is riled up about and justifiably so. With the players we have we should be able to do that, whether we have the coaching… well that’s another thing.

Won 10 games for 2nd time in 20 years?

Interesting that the previous 10 win season was with Malik Rosier. It was possible because UM had a balanced team overall and didn’t rely on one player. Different players would step up each game. This 10 win season was 100% Cam Ward. The overall roster is not good.

Bro, you're a good guy but let me shake you awake a little bit.. It took what may be the best qb ever at Miami to win those games. Without Cam, Miami wins 6 games? Cam is gone now and so is the 'easy' schedule.

No the **** we aren't overreacting. **** is twice as bleak as it was this same time last year imo. We need massive coaching changes and a massive talent infusion.. just to compete in the acc.

Look I'm normally labeled a "mope" on this site, in fact I've been purgatoried and temp banned in the past for giving honest takes about our failures as a program. But I'm usually right and our record over the years has born that out. For example, I got roasted for ripping on Emory weeks before yesterday's performance.

I say y'all are overreacting right now. Did the season end in disaster? Yes. But we still won 10 games and the foundation of this team is strong. We're not that far away from being a playoff team.

I say that because we're good at the line of scrimmage and that is A.) the hardest part of the team to build and get right and B.) usually can't be fixed quickly. We also have good RBs and a few good pieces at wideout.

Obviously if we go in to next season rolling with what we've got, it's gonna be bad. Like 5 wins bad. BUT.... the good news is that there is still time to fix what needs fixing, and I think the things that need fixing CAN be fixed pretty quickly in the portal.

That starts with a QB obviously. We need to spend money on the best QB available like we did last cycle. Then we need about 3 more starting caliber DBs, a stud linebacker, a star WR, and I wouldn't be mad if we got another DT as well.

Then obviously the defensive coaching staff has to turn over. They need to spend some money there as well and get us a real DC.

Basically all the things everyone has been saying.

Basically yesterday's result (and all of November's results) have shown that making these upgrades is not optional, we can't "roll with the young guys" or "roll with what we've got," we've got to SPEND money, make the changes that need to be made, but the core of the team that won 10 is still here and we CAN build on that rolling in to next season.

Do those things, beat Notre Dame, beat Florida, and the narrative around here flips back to sunshine and rainbows real quick, and y'all can go back to calling me a mope again.
Your mope card.....

I do think I have been overreacting. I do think were getting a new DC and newer coaches on that side of the field. I like the guys coming up on the offensive side for next year. I'm still freaking out that we don't have a QB1 but we have a whole offseason to get one. I think overall we'll be fine

Everyone keeps bringing up the fact that we won 10 games, and normally I’d be ecstatic, but context is important and not all 10 win seasons are created equally. Ask yourself: Are we a really good program right now under Mario, or did we just get extremely lucky by landing one really good player at QB? Without Cam IMO we were a 7-5 type team this year. Mario, to me, is the type of coach who even under the most perfect of circumstances is still going to lose you 1-2 games every year. I just feel like unless we can find a really good QB in the portal and replace this fool we have at DC we’re in big trouble next year.

Last night was nonsense. With cam we obviously win. But we didn’t have him and Iowa state had their qb
This about far more than last night, this is about the current and future state of UM football. Did you not see how pathetic Emory was as the QB with the same OL that Cam had? Mario has blown it with Mateer, Mendoza (whom many on here did not want originally but Curt Cignetti did who is a far better coach), and Mensah...guess he doesn't like QBs that have names that start with "M"...ironic since Mario starts with an "M" and he is a ******* Meathead.

Have you looked at the 2025 schedule? With our QB room, tell me where we get 7 wins from? Mario had the 14th ranked recruiting class following a 10-win season for crying out loud, and his portal signings as a whole over the last few years have been mediocre at best...Cam and Martinez the real exceptions. So yes, there is a multitude of reasons to be down on this team and coaching staff and very little to be optimistic about

here's the problem. Mario is supposed to be some ace recruiter. if that's the case, the guys he recruited in year 1 should be more than ready to contribute. Instead, we are having to rely on pay-to-play portal mercenaries to bail us out. I don't believe this is sustainable. If Mario is such a good recruiter, why aren't we stacked with enough talent to at least field a competitive team next year?

Yes, our O-Line is good. Unfortunately, O-Lineman don't play QB, LB, DB or S. How do we not have a starting caliber QB at this point? Not only is Mario such an "ace recruiter", but we have millions of dollars to throw at elite qb prospects. What good is a great OL without someone who can even be a game manager? I can't even say if our DL is good or not because they needed to compensate for a terrible LB and secondary.

Like OP suggested, we need to hit the portal for 3 (3!!!) staring caliber DB's and a "Stud" LB! what has Mario been doing the last few years?

All of this being said, it seems we've already made some nice defensive portal acquisitions. Wether or not they pan out remains to be seen, but at least it's being addressed.
