Xavier Lucas in the portal

Check out this MSN headline that popped up. Article doesn't even mention Miami, but uses a pic of us for clicks.

What did I tell everyone in my previous post?
The headlines always go one way when it comes to us.
They’re waiting for anything negative to say about Miami. It’s so freaking predictable.

It really is one of the most predictable things in sports. It’s like every writer in America has a script to follow when Miami’s name is involved.

(Wisconsin has) no grounds under the law or the NCAA rules to do why they’re doing. I hope they get their asses sued and they lose.

My question is why the NCAA hasn’t outright overridden them and said he’s in the portal? I think they could also be dragged into a suit if they aren’t willing to fix this immediately.

Wish this matter had come up after we had accepted an invitation to the Big Ten.

Five decades as a Canes fan can make one stay paranoid, but it wouldn't be surprising if Fickell (or is bosses) reached out to his alma mater in Columbus to help nudge things along

So are they hoping that if they keep stalling he’ll eventually jsut change his mind? Lmao
I think they’re just making it painful for him. The ncaa won’t do anything so by stalling it makes it expensive for him because lawyers ain’t cheap.
Some of his teammates already have representation and are probably asking “how much would this gonna cost if it happened to me”

But again it’s a dumb asz move by them unless they got something on us or are bluffing like they do.

It’s just weird to have everyone at wisky on the same page. I assume the school, the ad and the hc have to all be on the same page for it to drag out this far.
Or the x situation probably ****ed off one of the really big donors and he told every to dig in; and when big money gets ****ed off you gotta play ball.

I don't even think they believe that.

They apparently think that stalling will either delay Xavier Lucas enrolling anywhere in January and/or result in some ridiculous payoff to Wisconsin "on principle".

Nobody has cited any amount that was paid to Xavier Lucas in December. Nobody has provided a contractual repayment schedule that obligates Xavier Lucas to return any money to Wisconsin. Nobody has provided a contractual "actual" or "liquidated" or "punitive" damages clause that would force Xavier Lucas to pay "merely for breaking the contract".

So, we are apparently at a ridiculous impasse. Darren Heitner claims that the NCAA cannot "compel" Wisconsin to process the Portal paperwork Xavier Lucas submitted, but can only "punish" Wisconsin for failing to do so. Which is insane.

The world would have you believe that Wisconsin has stumbled upon a foolproof way to prevent players from transferring. Just, you know, DON'T process their Portal paperwork. Sure.

I think a court will rule very differently.

And it won't take long. There are no factual issues of dispute. Only irrelevant and distracting issues that Wisconsin is attempting to inject into the discussion.

It's laughable and sad that the MSN headline was about our rumored tampering, and not about Wisky illegally blocking student athletes from transferring out. Miami's PR team falling asleep on this one.
You tell me what generates more clicks? Miami potentially tampering or Wisconsin not granting his transfer? Doesn’t matter what PR we did. We also can’t say much, if we come out and say yes this isn’t fair. Let him transfer, we’d be ******** ourselves.

I don’t mind the silence. Let it play out. No need to further escalate the idea we tampered by speaking up. Let Wisconsin fall on their own sword here.

Didn't they say he was supposed to be released this week. Seems like they are still fighting to hold him hostage. But they got Dyoni hill within 24hrs

He's never going to get out.

The NCAA will do nothing.

Wisconsin has established the precedent that any school can prevent a transfer by simply refusing to file the paperwork.

Wisconsin's legal team will create such cost for Lucas that it will be cost prohibitive and take years for him to get out. Similar to a player challenging the NFL's three year requirement for entry.

This is a great point. If they start going down the road of pointing fingers at us for tampering, let’s dive into how it played out for Hill. I’m sure he’s just always wanted to play for Wisconsin and there was no prior contact there at all….
