“I go 100 miles an hour. I go all out and I feel I’m very effective.” Wyche added that the defensive scheme fits his ability “real well” and that defensive coordinator Mark D’Onofrio is a “mastermind” and that “he puts you in plays that come right to you as long as you do your responsibility. He’s definitely one of the smartest defensive coordinators I’ve ever been around.”

Yea, cause he is really gonna call out him. What do you expect players to say?

Com'on already! We've brand new season, new players, and excitement abound with hopes and aspirations for the first 10-win in a decade. Do we want to open threads to malign and ridicule our coaches?

Don't get mad at him for saying how he feels. Our players last year missed a ton of tackles including DP52. While I wouldn't call him a mastermind or even a good coordinator. I'm happy guys are buying in and not going through the motions.

Unless the question was specifically about Coach D, there would be no necessity of mentioning him. So I doubt that Mike was placed in a position of having to choose between making positive or negative comments about Coach D. It sounds to me as if Mike is extremely enthusiastic about Coach D.

The reason I am commenting here is that I think there is a tendency to discount peoples' statements if we disagree with them: something to the effect that "he was forced to say that, but he does not really believe it." My guess is that he DID mean it. That is not to say that he is right or that his opinion may not change, but at least understand that that is probably how he feels at present.

I like a lot of your posts, Problem2, but one of my pet peeves is when people arbitrarily negate someone's expressed opinion for totally unsubstantiated reasons. Give the kid the courtesy of hearing him.

Is Wyche even on the 2 deep?
No. Apparently losing 5 pounds will somehow transform him into different player.

Weight and August depth charts are very important to internet football experts.
I pay little attention to August depth charts. I just found it amusing that the reason being given for Wyche not being ready to step in and start is that he still needs to lose 5 pounds. As if 5 pounds at the DT position is really going to make a discernible difference.
