"It was great. I'm always very blessed to be offered by a school that wants me to come to their university and wants me to make an impact on their program," Clay told InsideTheU when reached by phone Wednesday. "It was definitely great. I always liked Miami. I never expected to get an offer, but it's definitely an honor."
"I do know that Coach Beard, he's a great coach. He called me and I was with my mom. The phone call I had with him was like the best phone call I've ever had with a coach. He kind of an insight on life and asked me if I love the game of football, kind of broke it down and it made me realize love is just an emotion and it's bigger than that. For him to do that, teach me that, I was real grateful for that," Clay said.
"I definitely want to explore it. If I can set up an official [visit], I would definitely do that," Clay said. "It's definitely a school of interest. I just love the coach over there. Coach Beard is just a great coach."
"It's great. I always heard about RAW. I haven't always been on the OT7 circuit when it comes to being on a team like that. I've been with smaller teams in San Antonio. [SMU quarterback signee Ty Hawkins], I've heard a lot of it from Ty and I know the culture was way better than any of the other 7-on-7 programs, so I was like, 'I'm down, let's do it.' I've gotten to know these dudes…These dudes are really genuine and they love the game of football," Clay said.
