Would Harbaugh seriously consider the Rams?

Why would he leave his dream job, for a greasefire NFL gig? He has nothing to prove at that level, he's proven that he can coach in the NFL. The money at Michigan is legit, he can stay there 20+ years like his hero Bo did, and he only has Urban Meyer to worry about in that conference.

that aint his dream job, he just went there because the nfl job openings were **** after the 49ers let him go. a guy with an ego like his is gonna want back in the league especially how close he was to winning a super bowl, just waiting for the right opportunity. if the colts job were to open up that would be the one to watch for because they have a QB.

You realize that he's a Michigan alum, and he idolizes Bo Schembechler, right? Harbaugh realizes that coaching in the NFL is a short term job, unless you are Bill Belichick. For the money, and whatnot, it isn't worth it, when you are coaching at a place like Michigan.

yes, i know that but harbaugh doesnt strike me as a college guy though, he's in the mold of jimmy johson and wants to win on the highest level. I believe a guy with his ego is gonna get tired of begging 17 year olds to come play for him and will pull the trigger if an ideal situation comes open for him i.e. a team with a top level QB

You implying that Saban's ego is smaller, and that's why he is ok begging 17 year olds to play for him?

Saban is pushing 70 and already failed in the NFL, harbaugh is a few years removed from a super bowl appearance so he knows he can coach in the league at a high level. He and saban are at different points saban doesn't do any begging high school kids are lining up to play for him. I'm not saying harbaugh is gonna leave this off season but people are mistaken if they think he's a Bowden or Paterno type staying at a college gig 30 or 40 years he's too competitive for that he'll coach NFL again

And it would seem like LA would be a perfect fit for a big personality like Harbaugh.

Harbaugh already went through terrible management, why would he want to go an work for another terrible organization?

He wont leave for the NFL until the right place opens up.

The days where the goal was to reach the NFL for coaches is over. Harbaugh, Urban liar, and Satan are all gods in those cities and to those schools. Not to mention they get paid great and do whatever they want.

College coaches use to go to the NFL because the money was MUCH better. Additionally, college programs were almost completely regional. Those days are LONG gone!

College coaches has more job stability, and make a tone of money. Think about this ... Mark Stoops makes more coaching UK than Jack Del Rio makes coaching the Oakland Raiders ...

good point, but here's the thing most NFL owners are billionaires they can easily double or triple what a college coach makes if they so choose money is certainly not an issue. my gut feeling is that he goes for another playoff run or two and then he's gonna bolt when a good opportunity presents itself. NFL coaching is still the standard and the pinnacle, saban can win 5 more titles and he still wont be mentioned in the same breath as bellicheck, parcells, jimmy johnson etc you reach a different category and status if you can win big in the NFL.

Guys like Harbaugh and Saban for that matter are control freaks. Neither would leave an equally high paying position for one where the personnel (NFL Players) or someone in management can tell them to go "*****" themselves without repercussions.

I really hope so with the man trying to find ways to camp out in our back yard.

He can't coach in the NFL. He's like Nick Saban. He tries to run the ship like a tyrant and grown men in the NFL are just going to look at him and say "really?" College kids would be scared of him.

He'll have to deal with a horrible front office and a QB he may not want. At Michigan, he's the $9 million man, what he says goes. The NFL is still "the League" but between all the NFLPA rules prohibiting your players for having to practice, tackle or play on grass he might just assume stay put.

The Saban example is cautionary tale, but for different reasons than many think. He can probably coach in the NFL, he'd be far from the first major prick to do that; but, he chose the dumpster fire that was the Miami Dolphins to do that. Either way, we'll probably never know.

Saban is 65 (1yr older than Belicheck). Saban has already proved he is the best college coach ever. Maybe he wants to prove he is the best FOOTBALL coach ever. Only way to do that is to have success in the NFL.

I could see Saban taking another shot at the NFL if he ties and then beat Bear Bryant's record for national championships.

Saban record as an NFL HC was 15-17, just below .500.What would have happened had he signed Brees instead of Culpepper? An opportunity with team not requiring a complete rebuild might be tempting. A team with a solid offense and a franchise QB, like Indianapolis or Green Bay.

He has a considerable ego, and that ego might return him to the league under the right circumstances.

He can't coach in the NFL? Go talk to niner fans. Lol. He turned that franchise around into a machine.

Reda my previous post. It's not that he can't coach from an x's and o's point, he can't coach in the NFL because his personality won't let him. He's a tyrant and pitches a fit every time something doesn't go his way. That intimidates college kids but it doesn't work with grown men. Even ownership got to the point where they couldn't deal with him

When you say it doesn't work with grown men, then why did his teams do so well? I agree that he seems to have a scorched earth personality but who wouldn't want to deal with it for a few years if it meant winning?
