Glad we got Cam than if we didn’t have him. Without Nick Savan, Bama doesn’t win all them ‘ships.

Considering that last year's Miami team would have easily been a 9 win team with COMPETENT QB play, and this team is significantly more talented offensively, it's not irrational to believe that Miami, with a solid, but non generational QB could have handled business. People forget that coaches call plays for their personnel. If you don't have a Cam Ward type, maybe guys like Martinez, Fletch and others are more involved. It would look different, but this O could be **** good. Cam kicks it up a notch, but it's not like he's elevating trash. He's elevating high end guys, Mario gave him more talent than he's ever worked with before.

The defense though. He’s been able to win shootouts with remarkable qb play to overcome their play this season. I also think the OL is overrated if people think it’s been elite. I think the run blocking has been better than the pass protection but I’ll trust OL guys like @gogeta4 with the OL knowledge if they say otherwise.

This is all true. I think we have more issues needing correction than has been apparent given our record this season.

Except the Chiefs have Mahomes next year and for the foreseeable future. Eyuck, yuck, yuck!

What's more, the Chiefs are a complete team and could certainly still beat the lower tier teams in the NFL without Mahomes.

Who knows who is going to be out there. That said, if Miami keeps stacking HS talent and developing guys while also supplementing through the portal, you won't always need a generational talent like Cam, because they are few and far between. I'd love to find another high end transfer QB, but I don't know if one will be there.

I will say this, Miami will be active in the portal. Poff isn't it, and if Miami wants to have an open competition, someone has to be there to push Emory. I don't think that Judd is anywhere ready and honestly, he's likely out of the running once Luke hits campus.

Depends who they ran out there at QB.

They certainly wouldn't beat many teams if they started Bryce Young, for example. Mahomes just elevates them from .500 to perennial Super Bowl contender.
