Without Cam Ward…

The defense though. He’s been able to win shootouts with remarkable qb play to overcome their play this season. I also think the OL is overrated if people think it’s been elite. I think the run blocking has been better than the pass protection but I’ll trust OL guys like @gogeta4 with the OL knowledge if they say otherwise.
I think the OL gets blamed for things that are beyond their control. Cam takes sacks because he refuses to give up on plays. I've lost count how often he's had 7-10 seconds to get rid of the ball and he's standing back there doing his thing. We all get excited when he eventually finds a guy, but we then blame the OL for not being able to hold blocks for these long plays.

We can also argue that Dawson's playcalling has also not helped them at times. I know that this fanbase wants to pretend that Cam is out there doing everything himself, but you aren't putting up 40+ points per game without high end OL play.

They’re mad though. 💁🏻‍♂️

They don’t accept it. They’re fighting me tooth and nail.
Yep. We have threads talking about how dumb everyone else is, or how over rated someone else is all the time. Miami has been a very lucky paper tiger all year, and all year there has been a ton of denial when it gets pointed out.

I agree to a point with the OL play but I think the pass protection has been inconsistent. Some plays he has all day and some plays they’re on him

It’s not Mario’s roster yet.

It takes half a decade to build culture

I think we will look back at this year and appreciate CW for kickstarting our run back to relevance.

That said - a couple of the wins we had earlier in year where we Cam comebacks was partially due to Cam in the game too.

A good system qb who knows who he is and takes what defenses give would have us at 6-3 or 7-2 imo.

Next year I could easily see us have a worse qb and a dominant offense with the strength in oline, rbs and tes.
I feel the same way. 👍🏾

Even the best OLs in history have breakdowns occasionally. Even last year's OL, which was by far the best I've seen at Miami in almost two decades had times where they had issues. Sometimes, you are outnumbered, sometimes, guys miss assignments.

There are few and I mean FEW teams that wouldn't take our OL unit. Again, Cam wouldn't be close to where he is statistically without them.

I think that’s fair. The OL isn’t the issue. We have a national championship level offense on most days. The defense is the overriding issue. We’re Oklahoma under Lincoln Riley
