I don't think they would be allowed to go to Bama if that happened. I think you have to wait a couple of years now before you can start taking kids from a school you coached at.

The kid has said he has a pretty good idea that he knows where he's want to play and he's taking the visits just to confirm what he already thinks. Why are so many people taking that as a negative? He hasn't taken officials to Bama or UGA, and has been to Coral Gables a ton. Shouldn't we take the fact that Campbell is relatively sure of where he wants to go as a positive comment? I'd assume he is most familiar with UM.

Because if we were the team to beat, and he still wasn't convinced when we were sitting at 10-0 and #2 in the country, what has transpired since then to help us? I'm of the opinion that we proved enough this season to show we aren't wasting anyone's time or talent. If we're the spot, he'd be committed here.

While it's very important, it's not ALL about winning for every kid. Chemistry with your teammates, coaches, and being comfortable in the environment that will be your home the next 3-4 years is also critical for these kids to assess. And that's the whole purpose of the official visits. So just because we look legit, doesn't mean that he's going to commit without considering other landing spots, and that's exactly why he's waiting. To make sure wherever he's leaning is the right landing spot. It's not like he's a borderline talent where we can afford to tell him to commit or we will move on. We take him no matter what, so I'm not remotely surprised he doesn't want to commit until after his visits.

He's a take no matter what. Even if he tells you no and then calls you back a day later, he's still a take. But this board is about reading the tea leaves, and while some people can't control their emotions, some of us learned a long time ago that our emotions are of no impact in recruiting, no matter how much we hit the up or down vote buttons. Your points are valid, but my read on the situation is just different. People act like this kids name is Tyson Rumph because we were told we lead for him. Clearly we didn't. That worries me this late in the process as the "hometown" team.

Yea, I knew this rule was changed because of the "support staff" position and hiring of HS coaches. If he's DBs coach it wouldn't keep them from signing.

That rule doesn't apply to on-field positions. It only applies to support roles.

If we dont land Campbell, there is literally zero justification for retaining Rumph. Its inexcusible to fail this much when he was brought here SPECIFICALLY to recruit kids from AH.

Looking good for Nesta and Chatfield. Got Herbert last year. But losing Campbell would hurt. He was the prize this year forsure.
