Willis McGahee Ain't No Sissy Like Some Of Today's Players

Guys, everyone wins here.
The players didn't go to NCAA for an education they went to make money. Rules out of their control force them to play.
The school gets their money from the bowl game, the player doesn't risk injury, la mcgahee.
I'm sure if they were in the playoffs they'd play.

These savage or be a man thing you guys are talking about, it's silly, their livelihood and future depends on their health, especially RBs since they have a short life span.

I have a hard time buying that their team mates "support their decision". If I'm a LSU or Stanford player, I'm not cool with a non injured player taking the bowl game off. I don't give a crap if they want to sit out, just be honest about it. Say, "I'm way more important than any of my teammates and I care a whole lot more about making sure I don't fall in the draft than I do about my team."

Don't think NFL teams aren't taking notice of this.

An NFL locker room is a huge mixture of dominant personalities. They're going to eat alive a kid who puts himself before his team. Scouts and GMs know that.

McCaffrey comes off as an entitled diva, not just because he's skipping out on the bowl game...

This entire season, he's had this arrogant smugness about him like he's hot ****...

I think he'll be a marginal player in the league, I don't see special talent... Terrific college player, but I don't see an exceptional athlete that will translate at the next level.

Reminds of DAT from Oregon, electric player in Chip Kelly's system but didn't amount to much in the league.

Over the past 2 seasons McCaffrey has had 748 rushes/receptions/returns. And that is just an insane amount of touches in 2 years. (In comparison, Fournettte had 681 in 3 full years as a starter.)
Him skipping a meaningless bowl game doesn't matter. What would matter is if he got hurt, and it ruined his chances of going in the first round.
If this was an important bowl game he likely doesn't leave early. Meanwhile He should have won the Heisman last year, and was a fringe Heisman finalist again this year. Its not like he's a lineman skipping his final game. He's a RB on a team that does nothing but put the ball in his hands 30 times a game.

Not only do kids not get paid for playing, but now they also get shamed for skipping a game that could cause them to lose millions.

I don't care about him skipping the bowl game, I clearly said my opinion of him wasn't centered around that...

He has really good stats against average Pac-12 teams, never shows up in big games & imo isn't that impressive of a player in terms of his projection on the next level.

Like I said, terrific College player, but I don't see him doing any of that in the NFL.

As as far as sitting out as a business move, I don't have a problem with that at all, but again that's not why I think he's a Diva.

If it is my son. He's projected first or second round why play in a bowl that is meaningless. unless you're playing for a national championship stay home.

So if Kayaa is being told he has a 2nd round grade, are you cool if he would sit against WVU?

Look kayaa don't owe me nothing. It's a fine line. If he is my son I would advise not to play most likely. If he he projected first round 100% no play in my book. Anyone that cared about him would understand in my opinion. Even the coaches should, so risk millions for the toilet bowl? No one is paying him if he is injured.

Does anyone think this is not going to be common very quickly? This will make bowl sponsership interesting, no? As soon as this catches on, I expect many teams will end up with multiple players opting out of crappy bowls for all sorts of reasons.

I don't care for skipping your last game if you're healthy enough to play. The same players would complain about a lack of playing time if told to sit the bench.

Dude is not the top 5 in the reciever or runningback position...that hype he had earlier wont carry him over any other top players

Exactly and watch for the same people justifying the players sitting out to be crying to high heavens if a school opts out of playing in a bowl because the diminished payouts make it a cost to the school to even participate. "Ohhh!!! You OWE it to those kids to reward them with the bowl experience!"- will be the talking point on that day.

I get hating the NCAA or even thinking that the system as a whole isn't "fair" but way too many fans and an obscene amount of taking heads and media frauds will jump on board with ANYTHING that hurts college football just to advance their agenda.

Only way I could see McCaffrey succeeding in the NFL is with a team like the Packers or Niners and take on a Ty Montgomery-like role

I laugh at the holier than thou fans that complain about a guy looking out for his best interest. Don't give me that "Playing for the team" crap, these guys carried their programs to these heights. Without Fournette and McCaffrey, these teams are barely bowl eligible. Fournette has been carrying the LSU offense for the better part of three years, they have run that dude into the ground. These youngsters realize that these second and third tier bowl games are nothing but money grabs, money grabs that can end their dreams. There's a difference between a guy like McGahee and Bratton playing in NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMES, and playing in the **** Sun Bowl. I'm just curious, do you mouthbreathers get ****ed when NFL players skip the Pro Bowl? That's a game they actually get paid to play in, and people skip it. Do you think that a guy on the verge of big money should play for FREE, in a game that is utterly meaningless?

So all of you guys would advise your 1st round son to go give his all in the champs bowl?

Yep, and that's why most of them are morons. Kids are playing for **** near free out there, but you expect a kid that is already being exploited, to further participate in even more BS, just so some administrators, and coaches can get some extra cash. I wonder if these same "Fans" get up in arms when coaches decide to skip bowl games, because they took a new job....
