Will Howard to Ohio St

These visits are what I was alluding to in the Bank yesterday. Miami considers both players to be in the top tier and don't intend to settle.
While I appreciate shooting for the moon, I don’t want to repeat the mistakes of hiring Gattis and others. Meaning the diamond in the rough can be better than the high profile acquisition.

I've thought about this and am genuinely curious how they left it with Howard. Each QB knows the other is visiting. If I'm Howard and Miami tells me to think about it for a day or two, that tells me I'm not the top choice. Maybe he's ok with that or maybe he's not. Too many unknown variables to logically speculate, but I'd love to be a fly on the wall for all of this.
if he's looking we have to be looking. think its acceptable to be courting more than one at this point.

I would assume those conversations happened before the visits took place. Hopefully the staff was transparent with their intentions. We let them know that’s how the logistics worked out in terms of visit schedule and we’d appreciate giving Ward the chance to visit as well but Howard since he was first could force our hand. If he wants in, what do you do? I’d take the commit and not risk losing out on both by waiting.

Maybe! I'd sure like to be privy to all the conversations.

I'm sure Mario is up front with all candidates. He's a straight shooter. You tell Howard we are going to interview N number of guys and will make a decision in X number of days.
Idk if I agree with that. This is a sellers market….you see one that fits, you make your best offer to get it done. Limited supply of veteran/established QBs and a significant demand for their services.

This can’t be handled like a coaching search where you do interviews etc. If we do - we will quickly “f” around and find out.

Some in the know say Cam Ward is #1 with Mario. I think it's a good move bringing in Howard. You already know what Howard's camp is looking for. If the number is too big with Ward or he wants to delay his decision, Mario can counter with, "We need an answer in 24 hours or we have to move on. I promised other candidates a decision."

By bringing in both guys on consecutive days, it takes away some of the player's leverage because you can tell each guy that the other guy is a better value and/or ready to commit.

I also hear rumors that Dante Moore will get an on-campus visit as well. I think Moore is only a take if he's willing to sit. Indications from his dad is he wants to be developed, so that may mean a willingness to sit and learn for a year. Bringing in Moore could also could cause a ripple affect with Emory and the 2024 QBs. It's a tough decision Mario has to make.
Don't know man .... Howard just looks like TVD all over again. Bring me Ward all day long.

It's been widely reported that Ward is at the top of the board, with Howard close behind.
It's also been reported that both are considered top tier and we would take whichever wanted to commit first.

Also, Howard visited first and it's been reported that we visited Howard in Kansas as well.

I don't think Ward is the clearly preferred QB. Or if he is maybe that's not by all the staff.

Could be not wanting to pass on Howard to get into a bidding war with Ward and ultimately miss him as well. Can’t miss both.

I think that’s part of what you’re saying

If it's me, I'd take Howard. Looking at his abilities he'd excel with our OL and weapons.....he's the kind of QB that would make Colbie Young come back. Wish I knew why he was leaving.

I find it interesting people keep bringing up turnovers to discredit Ward as if Howard is some sort of savant.
I think it is the total number of turnovers on average. Fumbles are drive killers just like INTs.

Fumbles just like INTs do require context though…like if a QB fumbles due to the LT being beat and he’s strip-sacked in 1.5sec…nothing a qb can do about that, not on him at all. Or if an INT is due to a drop by a WR - shouldn’t be counted against the QB……

Numbers can lie at times however with such a high number of fumbles - it gives the impression that Ward is a bit more careless with the football as opposed to Howard.

All things considered - I will happily accept and be ecstatic with either QB - I just don’t want us to wind up empty handed because they make Howard wait when he says he wants to commit- , then he feels disrespected so decides to make us wait for him to take other visits - then Ward decides to take other visits and next thing you know we see Ward AND Howard signing elsewhere

I think people need to give up on the turnover thing already. There is a difference in a QB having to carry a team and do everything in his ability to win games while running for his **** life vs actually having some time and deliver to playmakers because of having a real actual OL. Even Howard's RB's were repeatedly tackled behind the LOS.

Both of these QB's will be better players here behind this OL.
