Will Al Golden Fire D'Nofrio after this season?

What if he is retained? Is this board going to stay unreadable? We all hate the defense, but personally I don't feel like reading about it in every thread this summer.

You can count on it, at least from me.

Then I sincerely hope the mods allow is to have a Survivor style vote off once a week of the people who have turned this board into Grassy. The good posters here, of which there are a lot, came here so we wouldn't have to wade through the acres of bull**** on that board anymore.

Would like to think Al would see the light that his defense doesn't work here and his BFF makes it worse. However, I fear Al thinks, first he is right and second, he is untouchable. I fear the man is going to destroy his career by stubborn pride not loyalty. Firing Mark does nothing if Al does not give up on his defense and I doubt that is will do that.

I see this on here, but what has lead people to believe that at this time in the program his process of rebuilding the team has developed into career suicide stubbornness?

He'd be putting his job on the line for a friend if he doesn't because there is absolutely no logical reason to think this defense will improve next year under him.

Firing him & encouraging him to take another job are two different things. I don't think he comes back.

I think he gives him one more year. Al has to be on the hot seat himself before he would take the step of firing his long time assistant and best friend. Despite the disgusting defensive numbers there isn't going to be much heat on Golden after a 9 - 3 season--right, wrong, or otherwise. OTOH, aTm dropping 70 on us in the Chick bowl could change all that.

Let me ask a quick question...

I've heard here that D'Onofrio is not a great recruiter (and with the coaching we all see, that would make him worthless.) But, some kids build relationships with their coordinators prior to going to school. Do you think any current commits care about D'Onofrio enough to consider backing out if he leaves? I'm guessing the answer is no.

honestly, you can't shine s%4t. gionni paul was suppose to be our starting mlb this year. eddie would have been at outside. Gabe Terry would have been playing over ty and thurston. (converted safeties. one who didnt sign until after signing day and barely had offers)
our dl has talent but its young. Its AQM and Kamalu. jelani has talent but is always hurt. Curtis Porter is a 2/3 star from nc who has barely played in 4 years. Luther is a kid who's daddy was calling up causing problems. We snatch dequan ivery from l-ville in 2012 and the kid dont last a year. Grimble was a bust. (nevada 5 star) and we are starting a kid who couldnt start at UVA. Earl Moore might be solid next year but he is a kid who needed to redshirt. Let's be real. Gunter, Tracy, jenkins, crawford, Denzel, have all show growth. mccord is a playmaker. Figs will be good.i think coach d gets one more year.

I would love to say this is talent and talent will improve it. Talent is part of the factor, but scheme is horrible regardless of talent.

Mccord was lined up on their #1 WR 3 times I counted. Think about that one.

i think the scheme is overly cautious because of lack of talent.

dude. Mccord was lined up on Tyler Boyd more than 3 times? That's not a talent issue. That is a severe coaching issue. Severe. A misalignment one a play, ok, but 3? Wow.

I would have to see the play in question but if boyd was in the slot and they werent playing nickel. The olb in a 3-4 are asked to cover, blitz and play the run.
