Wide reciever separation

Heavy doses of Herb Waters, Clive Walford, Beau Sandland, and Stacey Coley. They will give Miami the mismatches it needs.

I don't care what coaches and players say, FAU game was solely played by us to confuse/blind UF. Many stupid behind LOS throws that no team would use against a very fast defense like UF, simple designed plays and even a flea flicker, wow!

Believe me, I hope your right.

We ran a bunch of short pass plays that were behind the LOS or at the LOS.

I hate those

I don't particularly like them to Hurns. He fought hard and was tough to tackle but lacked explosion and wasn't decisive. That's not what you want out of the wr in this play. Usually the wr is one on one with a db and needs to make him miss or there is a db being blocked and the wr needs to correctly navigate that block. Either way, you want a guy that can make someone miss and get upfield in a hurry because as soon as that ball leaves the qb's hands, the rest of the defense is collapsing that way. Fart around too much and other defenders are arriving, rendering the play useless.

I hear ya there. Hurns is a probably our best option on that play to get 6-7 yards. He has always been really good at breaking tackles but he doesn't have the gamebreaking speed.

Dorsett really doesn't make people miss or break tackles and Coley is TBD.

Waters seems like the best option overall to me, especially with Scott out.

Exactly. The reverse to Waters as well. That play wasn't run out of necessity to win the game. That play was run to make UF think about it the following week and help temper their blitzes. Now we can use the same formation and motion to set up other plays.

Lol @ Coley "TBD" on that Los play......when we threw it to the kid on that play, he struck out and the kids talent literally jumped off of the screen! His play actually looked the best out of all of our Wrs. I also think Coley is one of the keys to the game Saturday.

Everyone hating on the quick passes to Hurns is nuts IMO.

It's been explained on this board, but it is simply a check of sorts. It is an early down call which results in a run or quick pass to the WR depending on what the defense looks to be giving up. It maximizes possibility of getting ahead of the sticks and being in control on 2nd down. You do realize that Hurns getting us 5 to 6 yards makes 2nd down SOOOO much more dangerous for the defense?

Every play should be a big play, getting 5 yards on a quick throw is dumb!

No bigger fan of Coley on this board than me. TBD just means one game bruh dont get all twisted. His talent is unquestionable.

Plus if you watched the UF-Toledo game, the UF DBs actually struggled with tackling on the quick screen passes to the WRs

Yes sir. He has very reliable hands and runs strong after the catch.

I didn't have time to watch the game, how did UF look overall? 24-6 at home against Toledo did not sound so great.

Surprised this wasn't mentioned more. That's why I don't mind these early down calls.

Yes, I'll take that all day. Just afraid that against someone other than FAU, Hurns 7 yard catch is a 3 yard catch. I do like that he runs strong cause if you can break a tackle, that play can be a nice gainer. However, I thought he needed to be a little more decisive and get upfield more quickly. Just my opinion, perhaps I'll be proven wrong by Hurns. I think Coley will probably be the best at this play.

On a play like that you want to make sure you've got a guy with good hands out there. Hurns is our most reliable in that sense. Last thing you need is a quick backwards WR screen being dropped and the other team picking up the fumble. For plays like that, the primary goal is positive yardage equivalent to a run, and making the DB's play close to the LOS, so sure hands is the most important trait of the WR in that case. Breaking big plays is just a bonus.

Personally, if they're going to keep it short, I'd rather they just throw 5-10 yard out routes, instead of the bubble screens.

I`ve watched the FAU game a couple of times. It was pretty much what I expected for a first game. The major problem I took away from the game was the inability of our wide receivers to get separation on a week secondary. The Gators secondary will eat our lunch if we play the same. Just my opinion.

week secondary....

If u ******ts can't see Dorset was being bracketed by a safety all night I don't know what to tell u.. They doubled Dorsett all night coley dropped two touch downs and herb caugh a bomb in single coverage.. You guys are clueless same WR s were getting separation all last year.... And now they cant? Smh

TE will have to make an impact in this game for us to prevail. Walford and Sandland need to come ready and execute.

I will say I thought the two safeties played their asses off in that game. I also recall them saying that the CB was like all conference or something so I wont totally down play their secondary... Dorsett shredded that Amerson kid last yr from NC ST. The thing I did not like was seeing our WR get smashed off their routes so easily by the LBs. They need to know that is coming and push much harder to get through it. Dorsett got smoked a few times on those and it eliminates the underneath route for the qb. I have a feeling that the coaches see all the same stuff we see and do in fact make efforts to change what they don't like. I have faith in the staff to see the issues and make the necessary changes. The issue is wether or not the kid has the ability to accept those changes and continue to work on their games. I think they can and will be better this week.
