Why would Fisch stay??

I don't think he will get a lot of "better offers." I also think he wants to be an NFL guy. Just my 2 cents.

He will stay for one more year is my guess and try to make the 2013 offense a masterpiece (basically everyone is coming back).

Agree 100%. Fisch has been a confirmed job hopper until now. He flopped at his first gig as an OC at Minnesota. This is the place he will have to make his bones, IMO. He can't afford to leave this job with "meh" results. Next year is a perfect opportunity for him.

I also don't think he has been consistent enough here to expect much now. While I don't think he wants to be a QB coach in the NFL again, I think he would leave if one of the following happened:

1. Decent HC gig was offered,

2. Much Better OC gig was offered (i.e. a lot more pay), or

3. NFL OC Gig.

I don't think any of the above happens.

I think he will make a lot of money with what he has coming back on offense.

Why would Fisch leave? Right now I highly doubt Fisch has done enough to get an OC position in the NFL, nor has he done enough to get a HC position in college. If he wants to go to the NFL to be a QB coach again, he could, but I don't see that as an advancement, more like a lateral move. Next year Fisch will have 10 starters back, really 11, since Johnson and James play the same amount. Next year the offense can and should be really special.

He hasn't done enough to get an OC position in college.

I've proven I can put up points with a horrible defense.
I've proven I can do it with little time of possession.
I've proven I can introduce young players to my scheme and get them ready to produce their first year
I've proven I can get QB's to play at a higher level than they did previously.
I've proven I can utilize special players and find ways to get them the ball.
I've proven, under the circumstances, I am the best coach on the Miami staff...though that might not mean much.

If I have to continue to work with a defense that can't get me the ball, and places tremendous pressure on my offense to score EVERYTIME...
Why the **** would I stay?
Golden is already placing the blame on my side of the ball when I am producing over 35 points... in losses.

Fisch is going to leave, if D'nofrio don't.
It's about to get worse.

I've proven I can get an offense to go 3 & out repeatedly, for long stretches of time, in the second half of games.

I've proven I can make a bad defense look horrible by keeping it on the field for the better part of most games.

I've proven unable to run the ball with any consistency despite having one of the biggest O-lines in the country and a potential Heisman candidate in the backfield.

Not going anywhere.

Fisch is not god like many of you think, in fact he has issues. His issues include being "too cute," NO HOMO. But to me, this can be fixed. I don't see him going anywhere next year, I also don't see too many offers coming this off season.

Stop being so smart.

I am pretty sure Morris is referring to the fact that he fumbled the ball at the 5 yard line. Pretty much stating that UVA should not have been in a position to win the game at that point.

I don't think so -- you got this impression from Degnan's poor writing style. Morris fumbled the ball deep in Virginia's territory with a lot of time left in the game, and the defense responded by making Virginia go three and out right after that. The Canes then scored a TD almost immediately thereafter to go up 10. The fumble was inconsequential and it wasn't what put the defense in a bad position. What was consequential was UM's final two drives after the TD. Virginia responded to our final TD with a TD of their own to make it a 3 point game. Then Duke returned the kickoff and put the offense in great field position inside Virginia territory. Fisch's response: three-and-out. Then the defense steps up again and causes a safety and a five point lead. The offense, in turn, gets the ball back in good field position again -- even a field goal at this point prevents a loss in regulation play. Fisch's response: three-and-out... again. Instead of taking care of business and winning the game in either of the the final two drives, the offense crapped the bed and put everything on the defense (which we all know is a risky strategy, to say the least). This is clearly what Morris was talking about.

I think some of you are overrating Fisch. He's a better OC than we've had in a while, but isn't irreplaceable.

If the defense were better, Fisch would lose his teflon. He'd have the same flaws minus the excuses. This year we outrushed Virginia but failed on offense when it mattered. Last year Virginia was more physical than us in the trenches by wide margin but we had a chance with 2 minutes remaining until our offense was stuffed in short yardage. Chase Ford took the blame and Fisch escaped scrutiny again.

It's a grab bag offense, like a Price is Right game. There's no purpose or identity or logic. You can sense Fisch loves to tinker. Look at those zone read or stretch option-type plays we ran in the 4th quarter, when we briefly looked like Kansas State. Morris fumbled near the goal line. A penalty would have wiped it out anyway. Those plays looked great at face value but I was annoyed because it again demonstrated a lack of commitment to anything. He trotted out those plays and now we'll forget about them. Give me a commitment and I'll have some confidence when we take the field needing a first down or two with a few minutes remaining. Instead, I had no idea what to expect, other than we needed a fluke, something to pop open. We don't hit anybody often or authoritatively enough to expect a string of 5 or 6 yard runs when it matters.

Yep.

During the game, I said Fisch was the GOAT at Madden. Sometimes that's how he calls plays.

The weird thing is he didn't really do it last year. I liked what I saw for the most part. But this year he's all over the map.

All of this. And, Morris is right: the defense should never have been in that position. It's nice to say "defense wins games," but that philosophy only works when you have an actual defense. In the context of a war/battle, you don't rely on a unit without resources because that's "what the standard philosophy dictates." Adjust and play to the realistic strengths and weaknesses of your team. Our relative strength is our offense. The onus has to be on them to close out ballgames right now.

Agree and this should be news to no one. It has been discussed all year. Have to win on offense and help the defense at all turns. Red zone struggles and inability to close out games on offense hurts the defense for sure. Defense is bad and short-handed, offense was a few plays away from saving them.

BTW, Fisch's offense is ranked 72nd in 3rd down conversion. That's below average homies.
Vs UVA we convert one 3rd down in our last two drives and we more than likely win the game.

I'm still waiting to see Duke more involved in the passing game. Its like they scratched it after the bed ******* in Manhattan.

I am pretty sure he left because he was offered 1 of 32 OC positions in the NFL. That is a pay and prestige raise. Not sure about it having anything to do with Golden and Miami's poor defense?

I told you...

We need to audit the boards to prevent the OP from happening.
