Why would Fisch stay??

I've proven I can put up points with a horrible defense.
I've proven I can do it with little time of possession.
I've proven I can introduce young players to my scheme and get them ready to produce their first year
I've proven I can get QB's to play at a higher level than they did previously.
I've proven I can utilize special players and find ways to get them the ball.
I've proven, under the circumstances, I am the best coach on the Miami staff...though that might not mean much.

If I have to continue to work with a defense that can't get me the ball, and places tremendous pressure on my offense to score EVERYTIME...
Why the **** would I stay?
Golden is already placing the blame on my side of the ball when I am producing over 35 points... in losses.

Fisch is going to leave, if D'nofrio don't.
It's about to get worse.

Why would Fisch leave? Right now I highly doubt Fisch has done enough to get an OC position in the NFL, nor has he done enough to get a HC position in college. If he wants to go to the NFL to be a QB coach again, he could, but I don't see that as an advancement, more like a lateral move. Next year Fisch will have 10 starters back, really 11, since Johnson and James play the same amount. Next year the offense can and should be really special.

He needs to prove he can close out games when the defense gives his offense the ball back and not go 3 and out twice when a sustained drive would have won the game.

The staff promise Golden 5 years .....

to stay put
No one going anywhere..

He put up 35 plus points, gave the team a 10 point lead with 6 mins left. Yet you place the blame at his feet...while letting the DC off the hook. Again, if you were at any job and you were doing more than your part, only to be held responsible for failures. Why stay?

He's got the Jacory project and plenty of game tape to prove he's good.

As far as money goes, he could make a lateral move in college football and make more $ than he makes at UM.

He's not going to stay here.

Wouldn't surprise me to see him bolt back to the NFL as a QB coach. He'd make more money and not have the hassles of dealing with college kids.

This says it all (from Herald):

“It was just killing me,” said Morris, who finished 17 of 25 for 179 yards and three touchdowns. “We should have never had the defense in that situation.”

I don't think he will get a lot of "better offers." I also think he wants to be an NFL guy. Just my 2 cents.

He will stay for one more year is my guess and try to make the 2013 offense a masterpiece (basically everyone is coming back).

Hey, Morris is a kid. He's probably more emotional than a grown man. Probably, doesn't see the big picture either. That being said, what position did he have the defense in?

Big game, on the road, up by 10, six minutes left,...oh, and you were trailing at halftime. The offense is responsible for scoring points, but defense wins games.

Fisch can see past all the emotion, and knows he's being set up for failure. Why do you think he changed the offense to a more uptempo pace. He needed more plays because he knew his defense wouldn't get him the ball back many times.

In reality, Fisch is being handcuffed by the defense and their DC. That's an enormous amount of pressure that a normal coaching dynamic doesn't carry. He's not staying, he's too good to have to.

this team has offense, fisch is fine. defense is another ? no reason why hanging up 40 should result in a loss...

Fisch was a great hire. Hope he stays.

Oh, I agree. But if I'm his agent I'm calling an SEC team or Big Ten Team, and getting the **** outta dodge. It ain't worth the burden, and if he leaves UM is done.

Either the DC is canned or Fisch will leave. He's too good for this.

He has 3 years of Duke, our WRs, a 5 star QB, and a young and improving OL. Not sure going anywhere will fix the problem.
His job is easy and he's dropping points on teams that he should. Could he manage the game better at times? yes... but that's nitpicking all things considered.

It's Golden's job to tell Fisch how he wants the game managed up by 10, etc. Fisch's job is to score.

If the defense were better, Fisch would lose his teflon. He'd have the same flaws minus the excuses. This year we outrushed Virginia but failed on offense when it mattered. Last year Virginia was more physical than us in the trenches by wide margin but we had a chance with 2 minutes remaining until our offense was stuffed in short yardage. Chase Ford took the blame and Fisch escaped scrutiny again.

It's a grab bag offense, like a Price is Right game. There's no purpose or identity or logic. You can sense Fisch loves to tinker. Look at those zone read or stretch option-type plays we ran in the 4th quarter, when we briefly looked like Kansas State. Morris fumbled near the goal line. A penalty would have wiped it out anyway. Those plays looked great at face value but I was annoyed because it again demonstrated a lack of commitment to anything. He trotted out those plays and now we'll forget about them. Give me a commitment and I'll have some confidence when we take the field needing a first down or two with a few minutes remaining. Instead, I had no idea what to expect, other than we needed a fluke, something to pop open. We don't hit anybody often or authoritatively enough to expect a string of 5 or 6 yard runs when it matters.

Yep.

During the game, I said Fisch was the GOAT at Madden. Sometimes that's how he calls plays.

The weird thing is he didn't really do it last year. I liked what I saw for the most part. But this year he's all over the map.

All of this. And, Morris is right: the defense should never have been in that position. It's nice to say "defense wins games," but that philosophy only works when you have an actual defense. In the context of a war/battle, you don't rely on a unit without resources because that's "what the standard philosophy dictates." Adjust and play to the realistic strengths and weaknesses of your team. Our relative strength is our offense. The onus has to be on them to close out ballgames right now.
