why Miami could make a BCS run *$ article*

By the way, at the start of every season, there are always 3 or 4 teams who people think might go undefeated.... then something happens. Teams lose. OSU could lose to Michigan. They could lose some conference game where they're caught sleeping. Oregon could lose to Stanford, to USC, to any number of teams. This is usually what happens. It's not easy to win every game on your schedule.

We had this exact scenario 11 weeks into the season last year.

5 undefeated teams (and Ohio State for that matter), 2 weeks later Oregon, Kansas State, Louisville and Alabama all had taken a loss.

No reason why Kansas State should had lost to a bad Baylor team, no reason why Louisville should have lost to Syracuse, and really no reason why Alabama should have lost at home to Texas A&M.

Lucky for Bama, they lost the week before KSU and Oregon did.

I didn't even follow the prior pages. We, based, on our 2013 performances, are not a realistic NC title contender right now.

Understand that I want us to be, but we are not.

There is no objective argument to the contrary.

That's cool but this article is about making a BCS game, not winning the national title.

We have won 2 games thus far. That does not make us bowl eligible. There is a good deal of work to be done, starting with Savannah State. I'm willing to chalk that up as a win, but USF always plays us tough and we have to play well to beat all of the teams we will play in the ACC. I don't see the juggernaut you guys do, sorry. I think we are good enough to win every game on our schedule, but we are plenty capable of losing them all too. This team has shown me nothing to crown us. What did we gain in the last 3 quarters against UF? 50 Yards?

Not knocking, but lets let the team grow and develop before we see what we are or are not going to be at the end of the year.

However this works out, it's going to be an interesting season.
Very possible that there are 4 undefeated teams going into the bowls, and not one of them being an SEC team.
You know those rednecks are going to scream bloody murder if they don't make it to Pasadena. All the best conference bullshiit being touted.

We just need to hold up our end.

I've seen an undefeated Auburn get shafted by the BCS selection committee in favor of two sexier teams. The SEC is not always going to be in the championship game and this might be one of those years where it isn't.

But before that happens, someone has to beat Alabama. On paper, that is a phenomenal team, so let's just see how it all plays out.

Auburn's strength of schedule that year was awful, especially in OOC games. Back then SOS was part of the BCS formula and they got slammed for it, and rightfully so.

We know the "one game at a time" mantra, but have envisioned this scenario since spring. Not just dreamt of it with wishful thoughts, but saw our team's physical transformation, listened to everybody remark on the increased communication and scheme knowledge/confidence, recognized that physicality with serious talent and experience makes for a deadly team and lastly saw our schedule and the state of our opponents.

I've been saying 14-0 for months, but since I'm a homer, I'm dismissed as a crackpot.

Articles like this are crucial for us because we need the media to jump on board.
We need them to see us as the SEC alternative because the polls are a big part of BCS rankings.
Without the media touting for us and voting for us, even if luck goes our way, and we go 13-0, we could end up on the outside while 1 loss teams play in the big game.
Can't happen you say? No undefeated team from a BCS conference would ever get squeezed out.
Watch where Louisville plays their bowl game.

Louisville's hardest game is against Kentucky. They know full well why they won't be playing in the national title game. Miami is only 2-0. A long way to go before we start talking about going undefeated.

As soon as the schedule was announced I said if we beat UF and FSU that means we went 12-0. I still believe that. UF is a lot better than FSU. FSU has offense but the defense. Well I know it's only one game but Pitt was moving the football. If Pitt can do that I believe Miami will be able to do that as well. The test comes against Clemson in the ACCG. While Clemson doesn't have an AMAZING shut down defense, their defense is very physical. They have an offense that can play with any defense. So that will be a great test for the Miami defense which will finish in the top 25 in all categories.

Nailed it!!

Kudos on the bump. You will never see MCC come in here an own up to his prediction. But if he was right, you wouldn't hear the end of it.
