Why are so many down on Scott as a Wr commit?

The reasons to be down on Scott compared to other receivers many would prefer to be in this class...

- Poor athleticism. His 63.87 overall Sparq score at the Miami Opening Regional last month was the lowest of any 2017 receiver who took part in every athletic test at the event.
- Poor production. Had a statline of 21/270/1 (12.9 YPC) last year according to 247 Sports. Some have said he was banged up in 2015, but it's not like people can point to production as a positive.
- He's outright slow and it's not just the 4.99 40 time. That time merely confirms what you see in his highlights.
- Weighed 166 pounds as of last month at the Miami Opening Regional and has average height for the position (6'0").

None of this is meant to bash the kid. If he ends up here, then hopefully he develops into a beast and makes his doubters eat their words. But it's not surprising that he hasn't been offered by any new schools after the athletic results he posted at the Miami Opening Regional roughly 7 weeks ago.

All accurate. No offense to Scott, but it is what it is. I have little doubt he will be dropped later.

As for others in the class I expect us to take a minimum of 4, but most likely 5. Dayall Harris, Ahmmon Richards, Sam Bruce and assuming he gets in-Dionte Mullins-that puts us at 9 scholarship WRs. Coley and Malcolm Lewis exhaust eligibility and that puts us at 7 without the possibility of a guy like Langham potentially transferring. CMR wants us at 12 scholarship WR's from what I remember, leaving us with 5 this class alone before any potential transfers of current players.

Along with Jeudy, elite guys like Higgins (TN), JaCoby Stephens (TN), Peoples-Jones (MI), Jhamon Ausbon (TX/IMG), James Robinson (FL), Trevon Grimes (FL), Nico Collins (AL) will be recruited hard. Not currently counting on any but Jeudy is the best bet.

Other guys that I feel good about currently would be:
-Matt Flanders (Admiral Farrugut-Rayshawn Jenkins' hs)
-Evidence Njoku (time will tell if he can be an X-WR or grows into TE like David)
-Deejay Dallas (looking good for him right now but who knows, yes he is probably in that upper tier or close to)

Im really curious as to why the staff took his commitment.....

I don't understand why a kids commitment is taken if there is any doubt. I mean, they didn't accept with the intention of dropping him. The film was the film before the event. Maybe this happens more often that I know in college football.

It's mainly due to timing. Get the kids that want to be here locked in now, in case you don't get the number of commits you need later before NSD. If you can get the kids you want later, then weed them out. Happens all the time, year after year.

The sparq rating is shocking to me. The staff must be solely trusting his on field attributes and likely over relying on his sophomore year highlights.

It's strange they would accept this commitment so early if he's as bad as everyone seems to
Think unless their recruiting prowess is a little suspect.

Again, I would have waited until his senior year given his injury issues his junior year.
