Who will be lined up at PR against UNC?

Coley, by a mile.

Dorsett is my boy - I love watching that man get open deep - but he rarely does anything special on returns. I nearly threw my ottoman into the TV at the muffed punt, but that's not the sole reason I'd go with Coley. Not by a long shot.

Dorsett will consistently get me 6 yards. I'm not gonna miss that production, and I've enjoyed what I've seen of Coley.

Why don't the give Corn a chance? Isn't he supposed to be explosive? I Coley is explosive and I do like him at PR, but why not try Corn.

Keep Phillip Dorsett on KR w/ Duke Johnson.....

I prefer Stacy Coley or Dallas Crawford on Punt Return.

Last time Corn tried to return a punt he was hit and did two backflips. Young man needs to get his weight up.

That showed 2 things:

1. He's a tough motherfcker who eschewed the fair catch;
2. He's got great hands to hold onto the ball after that hit.

You don't need to be big or heavy to return punts and kicks.

A mix. I don't want Coley to get more than 3 PR's per game yet. He still has to concentrate on offense, especially since he's basically our #2 WR now. Don't want to overload him.

I hear ya, but if ever there was a time to break him in it would be now. Dorsett, Hurns, Waters, Scott coming back.....are we ever going to be that deep at WR again while Coley is here? I dunno.

Dorsett can't run through arm tackles. I would rather have Hurns on KR than Dorsett to be honest. He goes down way too easy. Yeah some KRs go untouched but he doesn't have the open field vision either.

You need speed on KR and thats what Dorsett does best..... Also Dorsett is pretty strong for his size, i've seen him run thru tacklers on Kick offs,

He's just inconsistent but Travis Benjamin was too, i think he can continue to improve.

I called out a poster in another thread for not man'ing up and admitting he was wrong about sumthin so its time to take my own advice. I was dead wrong about Dorsett. When he muffed that punt i knew it was time to make a switch. He rarely makes a big play in PR duties and now hes muffin' ****? Smh. Im on the Coley bandwagon now. **** even if Coley muffs it at least we know hes gonna break a few in between. I agree..Its Time.

Same here. I don't know if I put it in writing, but I wanted to keep Dorsett at PR b/c he was supposed to be reliable. That was a boneheaded play...and he provides no threat when he does receive it cleanly. I was wrong...Time to move on.

LOL. A Junior with a great history makes ONE bad play and you guys are ready to throw him under the bus? Talk about reactionary.

My computer must be infected with a virus. Did you just say a junior with a great history?

Look...I'm not here to bash Dorsett. I love what he gives us offensively. He has great speed, and he can stretch the field with the best of them. He just isn't a punt returner...nothing wrong with that. This isn't some knee-jerk reaction based on one fumble. As evidenced by this entire thread...the debate has been going on since our boys laced em up against FAU.

I'm ready to see us go in a different direction. I wouldn't be surprised to see Dorsett still handling the punts though. Our HC knows what the **** he is doing, and I will trust his decision over mine or anyone else's here.

exactly. parrish was smaller than elder is now (worked out pretty well for us) and santana was only about 5 lbs heavier. they are both faster than corn, but he's very shifty, and that's more important than straight-line speed on punt returns.

Something my brother always points out is that Dorsett never really looks like he's running at full speed when returning a punt, I wouldn't be against seeing Stacey in there and see if he does a better job than Dorsett.

It's more a case of the straw that broke the camel's back. Barely anyone has been in favor of Dorsett as our PR specialist. The only thing he had going for him was his dependability. Should he be labeled a liability after one fumble? No, but it does seem like the opportunity to put a more talented returner back there.

Coley definitely appears to be over the early season jitters. I agree it's time to have him start taking over the punt return duties. And if he takes to it like we hope, then pass the baton for good.

Great history of ball security, yes. That's the crux of what we're discussing. See my post above where I want the two of them to split duties. I don't want to dump it all on Coley right now while he's stepping into the #2 WR role. Too much. Spot him at PR. Maybe 3x a game.

His dependability hasn't changed one iota after one bad play. Jerry Rice, Sean Taylor, John Elway.. they all made bad mistakes. Just a lot less than most. One error doesn't change his ling history of ball security.
