Who was/is the best OL prospect in Dade County history?

We had old Art Kehoe teaching him.....whats the problem.... ;);):noidea::noidea::noidea:
For sure.

Both Washington and Ben Jones could've been really good OL if we had a solid coaching staff at the time. But we didn't.

The good news is that there are really good OL coming out of south Florida in every class now and we seem to be doing well with our OL recruiting.
Ben Jones? Kid did nothing to make anyone think he belongs in this discussion. Kehoe was an awful recruiter but plenty of kids not named Ben Jones played for him and went to the League.

Wasn't Ritchie a Cane?

Did he play for us same time as Golden Ruel?

And the kids here are saying, "We had a player named Golden Ruel?"

Yep. And he coached OL for Pete Carroll at USC and might still be with him with Seahawks.
Ritchie did become a cane, with the qb Kary Baker.
Ruel played under Fran Curci and don't remember if Ritchie was a teammate then.
Wonder if Billy Proulx and Arnie Romero are still alive, hall of fame recruiters from back in the day.

Carlos Joseph, if there was ever a kid who had all the tools, and never came close to reaching his potential.
Should have been a top 5 pick

Max Jean-Gilles? Richt managed to sign him a month after our perfect season.

They were being coached by Jeff Stoutland...

They just weren't good.

It happens.

Absolutely. One of the best position coaches we've had here of recent vintage, period.

Brandon Washington and Ben Jones...they just weren't that good.
Washinton had talent, but maybe not the focus and drive needed to harness it. He was also thrust into starting as a true frosh, and thrust to ot when he should have played at og, imo. Still, iirc he was all acc at some point. And he bounced around some nfl rosters for a few years. Not sure he had the mentality for og nor the size and reach for ot.

Ben jones is a different issue.

He left early, too. He was All-Conference, bounced to be a late round pick and became bottom 5 of the roster quality. A tale we've seen too often here recently. Maybe I think differently of Washington if he stays for his senior season.

Yeah, Jones is a different issue.
