Whew, some thoughts...

Cornelius also blew a coverage on their last td, it was man and he was froze by Pa, allowed his man get to the wheel route. Then missed the tackle once he got over there .

Never saw that before.

Seems weird because we're only a year removed from last years D, but are we better stopping the run than the pass? I think so. 3rd and anything this year is scary.

This. Scumbags! Took tickets and sat at home with them. I bet if their paychecks were distributed at JR Stadium, they would have all been there.
 
Pretty spot on analysis. I agree with you on the officials. THere were times when it seemed like they were giving us some breaks, and then they made other bizarre calls that seemed to be going against us.

I said in the Gameday thread, I can live with a loss to FSU in Tally, I dont think most give us much of a chance, and honestly the way they are playing, we are probably at least a year away from really being able to take them head to head. That's not to say we may not play the game of the year, Morris could have the game of his career, and the team may fire on all cylinders for the first time all season, but Im not holding my breath.

Honestly, I think we are probably a top 15-20 team. We have the ABILITY to be a top 10 team, but we have guys who just arent playing to their potential, specifically the offensive leader Morris. Our OL has also been a disappointment IMO. They have really not dominated the way you would expect. I mean if you cant out muscle Wake Forrest, who we outweighed on average by like 40 pounds or more, then who are you going to dominate?

We need to win the games we need to win, and we did that today. Im more worried about the VT game than anything right now. FSU will be what it will be. VT is a game we SHOULD win, but then today should have been an easy win too. And with them being down, its one of those games that scares me. Tell you also, Duke is not going to be a joke either. They are not the DUke we are used to playing, and I expect they will be at least as tough as WF was today. We really need to cut the cr#p and start playing like we are capable of.

Win the Coastal, and we will see the Noles again. We can honestly finish this year 11-2, maybe even 12-1 if we are lucky. That would be a **** of an improvement and makes me feel MUCH better about the direction this program is going in.

Dont discount what a strong finish can also do for us in recruiting. If we win, they will come. And when those playmakers start coming in big numbers again, that is when we will be up at that level of the Bamas, FSU, Oregon, etc. Basically where we were in 1999-2002.

Were getting there, but we arent there yet.

SERIOUSLY, WTF is going on in Miami man? I realize it was WF, but ****, we are undefeated and ranked 7th in the nation right now. I know it takes a while for the Band Wagon to really get up to speed in South Florida, but that was simply a PATHETIC turnout. That stadium looked absolutely EMPTY, really disheartening considering how much we have improved and that we have the best team we have had in almost a decade.

k9 morris' mechnics looks to have really deteriorated post injury. he hardly ever steps into a throw anymore its seems. most throws are off his back foot. what are your thoughts?

Yea, his front leg is swinging way too much after he follows through. He's constantly throwing off his back foot unless he's rolling out of the pocket.
 
Said this another thread and I'll say it here - UNC stomped BC today. I think we all need to take a fresh look at these two teams and realize that while we aren't winning with style, we are grinding out tough gritty W's. And if you do the whole comparative analysis thing.....FSU may just not be as great as we think. Good? Yes. Unbeatable? Not so much.

Anything can happen. I'm prepared for all possibilities but I promise you - I'm not scared. I think we hang with them.
 
I'm failing to see the hate on running with duke who balled out and owned this game.

He's on scholarship to help us win games he won't help us while he's in the league

Leave it all on the field like you can't save timeouts for the next game

We won that game for 2 reasons: 1) Duke and 2) our OL destroying the Wake DL in the second half. I just do not agree with that at OL. We won against UNC because our OL dominated them too. Our OL is really good and basically carrying the O right now.

Also, we REALLY miss Dorsett. Big time. He's one of the best deep ball guys we've ever had here, and now Morris doesn't have anybody who he can throw his favorite ball to. guys can creep up now.

Add NFL ready with what he did on the reverse. 95% of college WR's are tackled for loss on that play. Crucial crucial play & he made it almost look easy. He is getting sick quickly!

Our OL dominated when we went to to power formations late in the game. Prior to that, we were getting little push and not opening up running lanes. WORSE, Morris was getting a BUNCH of heat by a FOUR man rush from Wake Forest. WAKE FOREST, with a FOUR man Rush were getting all sorts of penetration and putting heat on Morris. There is NO reason, that Wake Forest, whose DL is about 40 pounds lighter than us on average should be getting more pressure on OUR QB, with a Four man rush, than we were on their QB.

That is TWO games in a row, where we really have NOT faced particularly great DLs, though Wake does have ONE good DT, but overall, there is no reason Morris should have been under pressure as much as he was today, and no reason we should not have been able to run for 400 yards on those guys.

Im NOT saying our OL is terrible, but aside from Morris, its the unit Im the MOST disappointed in. I mean there are BIG, TALENTED, and EXPERIENCED guys on that OL. Our OL should be among the BEST in the nation, and they have been average at best IMO.

I said this weeks ago, and a reason why I said Williams should be playing. The injury has DEFINITELY affected him. His mechanics are a mess, he cannot run, roll out effectively, though he was somewhat better today, he doesnt set his feet when he throws, everything is backing away. I just dont know why they didnt let Williams get some burn, let Morris fully heal that ankle, and be ready for some of our bigger games, like FSU and VT. Instead, we kept him in, which has led to a ton of turnovers, and it has now totally rattled him and his confidence.

Im not sure how Coley gets him back on track.

Honest question: Lot of people are complaining about the predominant usage of shotgun. Does anyone else think this might be because the coaches are not comfortable with the condition of Morris' ankle? Meaning, he has to move around less in the design of a passing and running play out of that formation, or am I full of ****?

I disagree. Crawford and Clements got the lions share of the late carries against UNC and got the win. Those guys should be getting carries in the first half so Duke is fresher in the second half. WE've already seen Duke's burst go away. Soon he's going to break down. The kid is too young and too small to get him beat up like that. This is Miami, use the **** roster!! Mo Hagens runs with bad intentions, yet they rarely let him touch the ball.

We definitely needed to run Duke. Which brings us to another topic; recruiting. Gus is young and we have yearby committed, but there's a reason Golden is still recruiting the **** out of guys like Michel and Cook. We need a talent infusion at the position, and you need more than one because you never know how things are going to turn out. I hold my breath every time Duke takes a big hit. he has heart, but he ain't gonna last if we have to keep relying on him like that.

We've given up like six sacks and are 22nd in rushing YPG. I just really do not get what you guys expect to see. Is this the 2001 OL? No. But it's **** good. We averaged 5 YPC today. WF got a few pressures, but let's not act like Morris was back there scrambling for his life. It's CFB, the other teams will get sacks and stuff your run occasionally. We looked bad the first few running plays but then got it going. UF made a living off of wearing teams down last year throughout the game and we are doing the same thing right now. When we need to run it, and when the other teams know it's coming, we're running it down their throats. Come on with this ****. The OL has been "average?" Do you know what average means?
