Whew, some thoughts...

Odd game for our defense. They actually played exceptionally well on 1st and 2nd down. Wake was in 3rd and long all day. On the flip side, they got abused on 3rd down. And give some credit to Wake -- they had a great gameplan and they executed well.

We had a ton of those 3rd down plays defensed well.....missed tackles and LB's struggle to cover in space. Not scheme, players need to play better.
Little of both. For example, Burns whiffed on a long lob pass on 3rd down but earlier in the game Wake was abusing us with screens on 3rd and long.

i'll take 7-0, but we aren't even in the same league as FSU yet. difference is they straight put lesser teams away. going to be a tough fight next week. We may not trust Morris, but FSU will take away our run game and Morris is going to have to make plays if we want to make it a game.

They went clock management I hope we do the same next Sat.

good lord goudis.....kicker reminds me of the ones we had in 07.....ill take peattie over him 1000/1000x

Duke johnson has no biznizz getting 30 carries a game. That's fraudulent personnel management by this staff.

Especially when you have Crawford, Clements and Hagens available.

We needed the 30 carries today. Sure its not ideal but there is a considerable drop off between Duke and the others.

I do wish we went to Hagans on the 4th down Crawford carry. We saw him in short yardage once early in the year and he carried the pile 5 yards.

I dont agree that we needed 30 carries from Duke today. He could have gotten 20 carries and had more in the tank to possibly break a long one. Hagens could have gotten 7 of those carries early to pound on those undersized D linemen and linebackers that wake had and Crawford/Clements could have gotten the other 3 carries.

I really fear for what they're doing to Duke Johnson. He gets beaten up every week now.

I lost complete confidence in Goudis today. Coaches are gonna have to do gameplan of their life for FSU!!

Duke can't handle 30 carries. We have Dallas to keep Duke fresh when we need him late in games

Duke is the only guy on the team I totally feel confident in. He's being forced to play too much as a result. Too few elite cats on this squad, but they are coming......I hope.

On our running plays it should have been more straight ahead runs and dives. We were so much bigger than them and by running the stretch plays and longer developing running plays was to their advantage

LULZ. So you'd rather cut Duke's carries and lose that game? Ridiculous. Sometimes, you need your best player to carry you to a win, and that's what we needed today. We don't win that game without Duke's super effort. Crawford's a nice player, but there's a gigantic step down from Duke to Crawford.

Duke Johnson was a thoroughbred today, when the chips were down, he took over the game. He runs almost too tough for his frame but he was a real gamer. Running hard, moving piles, breaking tackles and making sure UM was ahead of the chains on early downs. I still wonder why though with this workload he is on KO returns

- Morris is what he is, Calvin Shiraldi. Great fastball, no command. It is, what it is and he's hand-cuffing Coley( who to be honest, isn't inspiring a lot of confidence, either)

- Stacy Coley is turning into who we think he was. Crown him. And he's only going to get better. He's no longer a freshman in my eyes but one of our true playmakers

- First half of D was awful, the tackling was atrocious and they couldn't get off the field. As for making adjustments against the wide splits, I mean, it's not like WFU just started doing this. This could not have been a big surprise and yet again, this unit is so **** reactive.

- Pat O'Donnell deserves a game ball. His punt after the great grab by Coley( which flipped the field) set up Miami nicely. On the flipside, Goudis is a liability. Second week in a row he misses a very makable kick in a tight game. I don't trust the guy

-Speaking of that sequence, that was some adroit game management by Golden. He didn't panic, used a great weapon in his punter and it worked to perfection in that sequence.

- But 7-0 is 7-0, yeah, this program/team might be a year or two away, but it's important to win games that you are supposed to. That's part of the development of any program. Make no doubt about it, this would have been a disastrous loss

- ACC officials were odd today, lets just put it that way. That Duke TD that wasn't was bizarre. It looked like an easy call and yet, it wasn't overturned.

- BTW if Miami is going to 'paper the house', they need to take some notes from boxing. That's the emptiest looking near sell-out Ive ever seen

Now, off to Tally. Hey, there's a reason why you play the games....

Add Warrior. He gets a ball on that one catch alone. He bailed out SM and may have saved the game and the season.

Yes sir. I'm a James Coley fan but for ****'s sake, why on gods green earth is Walford ever on the sideline when its 3rd and 6?

Exactly, Crawford is a nice player and played hard against UNC but he isnt on Duke's level. There was one play today might have been a 3rd or 4th down play where there was a HUGE cutback lane. he instead ran for no gain. Duke houses that as his vision and cutting is elite. Dallas is a hard nosed runner and is good for a few carries agame but u roll with ur best players.

k9 morris' mechnics looks to have really deteriorated post injury. he hardly ever steps into a throw anymore its seems. most throws are off his back foot. what are your thoughts?

I don't think there's any doubt about that, he just looks like he's moving very gingerly on his feet. And yeah, he's looked a bit like Jim Everett...

I'll add a couple notes myself.

I don't know if Coley is handcuffing Morris or vice versa. Morris was very good last yr and this yr he looks horrible. I don't know if it's the ankle or Coley but all other factors are the same.

I hate the predominant use of shotgun on offense. I am a huge fan of the I formation, various formation, etc. But being in shotgun 90% of the time is annoying! Case in point, first drive of second half I believe we had 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 and we run it out of the pistol! WTF???

Our defense seems to wait until the second half of games to show up. Why can't we make adjustments prior to halftime?

Lastly, I hate the soft/off coverage our DBs use. Teams are throwing the quick pass/wr screen against us time and again and we stay 10 yds off and allow it. That **** has got to stop.

I know many of you are down, but next week is going to be a war! We are going to bring it. Part of me thinks we have been holding back these last few weeks in preparation for the showdown.
