Where we go from here

First off, I apologize for hyping this product. It’s embarrassing. Instead of erasing the Peach Bowl memory, we told the world nothing has changed. We won’t be respected for a long time after this. And we shouldn’t be.

As hopeless as we all feel, there is an entire season to play. Many seasons that looked doomed after the first game turned out very well. What are the best (realistic) steps to get things moving in the right direction? No coach is getting fired mid-season, so I’ll leave that to the other threads.

My overarching thought is this: we let experience play over talent because we started with LSU. That didn’t work, and every inferior talent got exposed. Now is the time to trust and fast track the talent.

QB- This is an obvious one. Rosier is 47% over his last eight games. That is a sample size of more than half his starting career. You can’t win like that. He’s not even the most athletic QB on the team. If anything, he’s the least dynamic.

We will be the underdog against every good team we play as long as Malik is the starter. What kills me the most is the lack of urgency he plays with. He was lifeless.

Greentree is not effective for evaluating QBs. Rosier looked improved until the real games started. We have four light games coming up. Put all three young guys under the fire (with live tackling) and see who emerges. Mix in reps with the first team. Use this schedule and the new redshirt rule to find out who belongs under center.

OL- Richt has been privately telling people that this team will take the next step when Delone Scaife, Cleveland Reed and John Campbell are ready to play. Time to expedite that process. Our guards looked out of place last night. A team like Clemson will make them look worse.

We need to get our guys through growing pains early. I’m not saying to start all three, but give them meaningful reps starting immediately. Scaife at RT and Donaldson at G may ultimately be the move.

P/K- Same story as above. Open it up over the next four games. We need to find out who is ready to play in a live environment against FSU. We were playing with a handicap all night.

DB- Dean and Knowles looked like the same guys. They are older than the others but not any better mentally. Time to let the young bloods learn on the job.

LSU was the perfect first test for us because they are strong where we are weak. Physical, strong and able to neutralize our athletic advantages. We failed the test miserably. Now is the time to radically rethink our approach as we look towards FSU.

Couldn’t have said it better. However Richt is painfully slow to change. Which has led to multiple long losing streaks during his tenure. I agree NOW is the time for playing the young bucks at QB. We have in essence 3 exhibition games coming up. Now is the time.

That's what I am screaming. Make the move. Lose an extra game or two. Who gives a ****! I don't want a shot at the Peach Bowl. I want to fight for a playoff spot. If that is a year or two away, best start preparing for it.

Lulz, those lunatics actually sound way more adjusted to reality than we do here...
Thats why I go by there, when I come here I become a sunshine pumper and dont look at things straight. They are way more in touch with recruiting and way more in touch with the team, it may be things the average fan doesnt want to see. Thats why when that whole Jordan Battle news came out here about not wanting to come here and someone will always be ahead of miami I kind of believed it cause of what the WEZ has been saying about it.

It aint for the light hearted I tell u that

One thing mentioned in other threads was where Barry Jackson wrote about Kosi not making plays that "wow" the coaches in practices. This got me thinking (dangerous, I know)...

Look at the skill position talent on the roster. WE DON'T NEED AN ALL-WORLD MAKE-EVERY-PLAY-EVERY-DOWN QB.

The bar is this - Find me a QB on the roster that can make the easy throws accurately to the right read. If he isn't on the roster right now, go recruit one. If we find a guy like that, we have massively upgraded the offense, because we have given our playmakers the ball where they can make plays. Find me a guy who doesn't think Jeff Thomas is too fast, because he knows that Thomas is running that crossing route at full speed and you have to read the window and throw the ball earlier to hit him in stride. Find me a guy who will not throw the ball 10 feet over Darrell Langham's head on a simple 5-yard stop route. Find me the guy who will put the ball on Brevin Jordan when no one is within 10 yards of him either on the drag route or up the seam. Find me a guy who will see the LB baiting him on the slant and NOT throw it into the LB's gut for a pick 6.

This isn't that hard. If we have any legit D1 QBs on this roster, they should be able to do any of those things on a much more regular basis than Rosier can. I'm not asking any Miami QB to make 5 reads on a play and deliver the football in a lemon-sized window. We don't need a superhero playing QB.

Fvck dynamic/athletic/dual-threat. Give me a QB who has it from the neck-up Dorsey style, and watch us break scoreboards with this set of WRs and RBs. If we had a no-frills, consistent, game manager type at QB...we could easily be a top 4 playoff team...even with a vanilla offense.

What did it say?

Incrementalism is destined to fail.

I saw a young VT play really well last night led by a sophomore QB. They took their lumps last year, we we're one of them.

At this point, every time we play Rosier, Knowles, Redwine, Gray, etc. is a wasted opportunity at the expense of players with upside-- the future.

I don't believe for one second that he doesn't have enough information to decide who the best future at quarterback is for this team. What is the harm? That you get blown out on national TV? That already happened. Maybe one of these kids hits one of those throws and it's a better ball game.

WE KEEP HEARING HIM SAY THAT UNTIL HE GETS OFFENSE OF LINEMAN X, Y, Z ON THE FIELD WE'RE GOING TO BE A STEP AWAY FROM WHERE WE WANT TO BE. WELL, PUT THEM ON THE FIELD LET THEM LEARN IN JAIL AS AN OFFENSE OF LINE. UNDER FIRE!!!!

We keep hearing that we wanted a true fullback to develop a power running game. You just recruited one, get him on the field.

Some people I know were sitting by his family at the game. Overheard his sister talking about him being in the NFL next year. Apparently the father was also trying to go at it with other fans/player families. At least they are self aware :rolleyes:
His family was right behind us. His father was trying to fight fans because people kept saying bench his ss to put it nicely and that richt must be fvckin his mother. That's why they wont bench him. I kept screaming the same **** but apparently he has heard better than bothering with me. Lol. I did sorta feel bad for him but I told them pre game they probably shouldnt be there.

I dont think VTech threw the ball more than 10 yards downfield last night.

Beautiful slip screens, short passes to playmakers to be able to run after the catch, and a varied gameplan of sweeps and designed runs.

Malik is not capable of making reads that far down the field and we havent recognized that yet???

Oof, that's tough to see. Feel for them but at the same time, they need to know that this kind of behavior comes with the territory with a player that fails to perform. It's happened to many player parents in the past who eventually turned on the school. Ugly reality of fandom.

Unacceptable as fans leave the players and their families out of it. Now coaches that may be a diff story.

I waited to post so it wouldn’t be an angry rant. That said, our team looked as bad and Ill-prepared as I’ve seen since the other staff. ST is as bad or worse. Feagles is our Equivalent of the kicker Serenvt (can’t spell his name for good reason) who shanked kickoffs out of bounds all the time. It wasn’t the pressure as Richt said, as my brother texted during pre-game and said our punters were pathetic and couldn’t even kick during warmups. That, and the issue I’ve been asking about is the opposition hasn’t missed a FG against us going into season 2? And once again a ****** kicker sets a personal and school record. Our ST are once again so unacceptable it is disgusting and an embarrassment to college level football. Why we all called for a ST coach instead of another LB coach who’s unit, I’m not sure, was even on the field. I live by Toledo, and believe, me, they have a chance to really beat us...this is their by week...they aren’t scared and they will be prepared. I haven’t seen a more fragile Miami team in years. Looked scared, played scared. Only two to show up were Thomas and Willis. Unless there is a big, and I mean big change, I don’t see us winning more than six or seven games this year. Love the guys and the staff, but think there is something very wrong. Hope I’m wrong again. Bad thing is recruits saw that **** burger we layed. Can’t get better without recruits

I always felt that was Richts plan until recently. Now it seems like JW doesn't cross his radar for getting real experience- whether that be in practice or games. Why? Is it some kind of point to him for slacking in the classroom? Is it part of trying to keep one of the others from transferring? Even in his radio interview this morning it sure sounded like Jarren has virtually no shot at getting any game play. It just seems contradictory to everything he said prior. The kid will certainly take his lumps but that's also how he will learn.

The main thing with not only jarren but all of his players is his primary concern that they become good responsible men. Honestly I cant knock him for that. But there's gotta be a happy medium somewhere. We can't not play kids because of minimal things like falling asleep in class & other small things that show hes struggling to adjust to college life somewhat. Hes not struggling to adjust on the field particularly.

I don't know if he overlapped with your time, but we sat behind Andy Crossland's dad back in the 90s at the OB. I'm not sure if folks on here remember him, but he missed multiple PATs a year, and in some very big games, and cost us a few of them. He was Jeff Feagles, if Feagles were a kicker instead of a punter. The guys around us were yelling some similar things, not knowing his father was there. Finally the father turns and introduces himself after a few games... they quite literally chased his father out of the stadium that day and he never returned, yelling god knows what in Spanish at him the whole way.

God I miss the OB. #****ushalalalah
