I hear that he has family issues and that Bennett has been trying to adopt him for years now.

Obviously UM will offer, but I know there are some pretty bad things off the field, but personality wise, hes so mature(once again in writing)you have to think that hes worth the risk.

He might completely implode and take everyone down with him but he will be a starting slot WR in the NFL.

Ive been following UM recruiting for 10 years now and hes the best WR recruit that ive thought we had a chance with.Better than Moore and Hester.

Its just so very bizzare

I read some of that reddit thread and he does seem like a very mature, intelligent person for his age. It's almost hard to believe that's a high school football player writing those responses.

To all the posters knocking Coley´s attitude or talking about grade problems, do yourselves a favor click on the link in the OP and read that ****. The kid is articulate, funny, thoughtful, polite, mature, respectful. His spelling is way better than most of you guys. If he does have any catching up to do in the classroom, he will do that easily. If he has had any lapses of judgement in the past, or, god forbid, smoked pot, so what? Read his comments and you will have a hard time not thinking that this is a kid who will succeed.

He is obvioulsy a bigtime football fan. When a Nebraska fan asked him which was the best ever team in CFB, he apologised for not naming the ´71 or ´95 Huskers (how many of us would have even considered the ´71 Huskers? Coley even wrote it with an apostrophe) and answered "2001 Canes". As a Dolphin fan, I will never forget this line of his when asked if he would factor a school´s QB into his decision:

If they can throw a spiral,I dont really care.

Basically, that means that i would play for anyone but the Jets.

BTW, the hat he´s wearing is his HS team´s. The Oakland Park Northeast Hurricanes.

FWIW its not like this is all new stuff with Coley.

He has been on the recruiting radar for a few years now and "issues" were always the first thing brought up.

Could be in the past, could not. Like I said, I am glad we have some coaches that know a lot more about what's going on that the guys here do.

I don't know ANYTHING about Stacy Coley, but there are at least a few kids who had a public persona similar to what you describe but acted very differently in their private lives.

How quickly people forget that Willie Williams was a good student and, relatively speaking, pretty well mannered around adults. You can have some issues and not sound like a complete jackass. That said, this kid is a tremendous talent and I hope the kid's issues are overblown / getting fixed regardless of where he wants to go.

True, but one thing you cant fake is intelligence. He is witty and just smart as a tack overall.Look at who hes surrounded by Bennett,Isaac Bruce. What about the fact that he decided to do this in the first place?Brilliant.I think by doing this and showing that hes not some dumb thug who cant write a sentence,he has to jump to No.1 on everyones WR board. It was close already, but the ONLY knock on Coley has been his I.Q/attitude.Im absolutely shocked that hes not dumb as a rock

We heard the same ****e with Lamar Miller early on and everyone wrote him off and then he was one of our earliest commits. Just let it play out.

All we need to know is that Bennett is his mentor and we know how Golden places priority on former Canes. They will do what's best for everyone, whatever that ends up being.

I would LOVE to have a kid with his talent on this team.

The difference was Miller was always a Cane.

Early on word was that Coley literally hated Miami, but that all seems to be either in the past, or BS. He had said himself though a few times that he wasnt interested in us a while back.

I dont think that Willie Williams was a bad kid

Would have repped if I could. IDK if you´re being sarcastic, but Willie Williams got a raw deal in life. Just because he had athletic talent out the wazoo doesn´t make what he went thru any easier.

Edit: of course, that doesn´t change the fact that, as an adult, especially one as intelligent as he is, he bears full responsibility for the **** he did as an adult.

I agree and that's kinda my point with Coley. The grades; his actual temperament; and intelligence can all get nullified at a young age when you don't have the right people around you. I'll let the coaches make the call on this one. I mean Donnel Bennet is going to be as honest as he can with this kid and our staff i'd hope.
