What We Need To Accept

My hope is that the team quits on the fat loser of a HC and he gets fired ASAP. Hopefully Lane Kiffin style in the middle of the season.

They already quit on him BEFORE he tried to split on them. How do you think they're going to react to him now after all his empty platitudes and catch phrases he hoisted upon them for 3 years only to try to split on them the minute he got the chance?

I'm keeping hope alive until Ped State hires someone else. Still holding onto hope that they come to their senses and hire Big Dumb Al.

No man. Al (or at least Al's camp meaning his wife) really wants to be here at this point. Whether we want him or not. They didn't pull his offer.

Stop speaking like you know what happened. No one knows if they offered or if they wanted to go through the process or what his wife had to do with it.

Al might have felt like he needed to be here today just in case they didn't offer him because he had a press conference and meetings with his coaches planned long ago. If he didn't attend the press conference and meetings and wasn't there for the EEs, then the whole story would explode making it nearly impossible for him to come back here if they didn't eventually wind up offering him the job.

There's nothing stopping him from still leaving if he gets the offer today or tomorrow. That limp statement he issued didn't exactly box him into a corner.

While I agree with the last sentence, and I definitely don't know what went down any more than anybody else, IMHO that's just not how Al operates. I'd prefer I'm wrong, but I don't want to hold out hope for a change only to be disappointed.

This is from Penn Live:

"So, here's the thing about the potential Penn State-Al Golden coupling that many people have speculated fell apart on Sunday.

It was never really a coupling.

A source I trust told me Golden, the former PSU captain and coach of the Miami Hurricanes, that Golden was never offered he position. And Golden officially took himself out of the running on Sunday."

In fact, I'm told that as of early Sunday evening, no one has been offered the job."

ny, you've described my feelings and experience to a T. Honest, well thought out post.

You'll get hammered by a few, but the majority feel this same way.

First, a few things:

-I loved Al Golden from the moment he was hired until a few months ago. I thought he was the perfect man for the job and he would lead us back to the top.

-When it was reported that he was Wisconsin's choice last December and that he might leave us, my heart sank. I was SO relieved when he said he wasn't going anywhere. I thought him leaving would be an absolute disaster.

-I scoffed when some people pointed out that the defense didn't need to be as bad as it was. I thought, like Al said, it was a process. He had me. Hook, line and sinker.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then the VT game happened.

That's when I started to worry. There was no excuse for us performing like that with the Coastal on the line. We played flat, unispired football. I started having doubts.

Then Duke happened.

And that's when I realized. Al is not who I thought he was.

His defense has not, does not and will not work here. His team quits on him. His words are empty. He's a fraud.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When it came time for the Russell Athletic Bowl, I tried to put my feelings aside. We were in a Bowl game. Hooray!

And then Louisvile happened.

And yea....it was ugly.

I was livid, I wanted to go down to Miami and punch the fat **** in the face. He is a disgrace.

I thought we were screwed, going to be stuck in mediocrity forever. But...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Texans hired Bill O'Brien. (Great hire, by the way.) And word came out that Penn State wanted Al and he was interested. More than interested, in fact. Supposedly they had agreed to terms. I was excited, but weary until it became official.

Sure enough, something happened and Al's staying.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What we need to accept is Al Golden is our football coach. And he's going to be for the foreseeable future, whether we like it or not.

This makes me angry. And I'm sure it makes many of you angry. But we need to accept it. Name calling and ****ing isn't going to change anything. Short of Al choking on a Whopper, we're stuck with him.

So let's try to make the best out of a bad situation. We have a great class coming in. Let's hope he makes some changes and that, somehow, we get back to the top of college football.

Al Golden is our Coach, and we need to just deal with it.

I emailed Shalala and Blake that my contributions were stopping as long as Golden is the coach. I bleed orange and green (1992 U Law School alumni). But this is ridiculous. I've placed the football team in the same purgatory I put the Dolphins in. They will stay there until they earn their way out. Only way for that to happen is Golden to leave or Golden to man up and fire his buddy, No D.

Did they respond?

I won't name-call the dude because I think that, unlike Shannon, he's worked his *** off while here and appears to be a nice guy. He's not robbing us through complete dereliction of his duties to run a program, which is what Shannon did in terms of recruiting. That he wants to go to PSU is perfectly fine with me -- he, like us, realized that this is not a good match. His defensive philosophy does not work with SoFla recruits, who should be featured in downhill, aggressive schemes. His bull**** 7 Step Program might work with suburban kids, but it doesn't work here. This should have ended as an amicable breakup this weekend, with him accepting the PSU offer and us going after a legit ball coach. But, some-*******-how, because this program seems ******* cursed of late, Golden didn't leave us for the other woman and we're stuck, mired in a relationship where one side make it clear he wants out and the other side knows it's for the best.

The issue is what to do next. If I'm the AD, realizing that this guy is not going to cut it, following the cementing of our 2014 recruiting class, I'd ask him to make serious coaching changes. I'd apply pressure. Maybe we can't buy him out, but we sure can let him know that we won't tolerate his current approach, and that if he wants to keep it, he needs to go elsewhere. Maybe this is an unrealistic tact, but **** it, I'm exasperated by this program and want to see the management exercise some balls, for ******* once.

I was a big believer in Al, excited he was our coach but dude is straight garbage....he is pure mediocrity & will bring us nothing but 7-6, 8-5, 9-4 seasons he's not that good of a coach I hope he succeeds but I don't see a good motivator, developer, recruiter, or in-game coach

I like Al the man, but not Al the coach

The Miami of today would tell you that you are not good enough for Miami. That they dn't value you, and would not accept you. This is the admin we have now. They could care less what you think, b/c they think your 1992 Miami degree is a joke. That's the reality of this uppity anti-black-culture admin.

I agree it's rough watching Miami get bent over by Duke, Tech, and UVA. But ****. FSU's DLine backups would be studs for Miami. That fat *******, Keith Bryant, would've started for Miami this year, but was redshirted for the Criminoles. The talent on D needs an upgrade. Championships are won and lost in the trenches. But, Goldens seat should be starting to get really, really warm.
