What We Need To Accept

Amazing, we stoppoed being the U right about the time the program was taken over by a "Football Expert" who cares more about winning than any University president anywhere!

OP you sound like such a little b*tch. Think about it, how many countless days have you been on here letting everyone know that you hate Golden? Believe me,I felt the same way after Duke and especially after the Louisville game. But I'm not gonna post a thousand times a day about how bad my c*nt hurts. You're a whining little ***** who didn't get enough hugs from Dad. Get a grip.

First post.

First, a few things:

-I loved Al Golden from the moment he was hired until a few months ago. I thought he was the perfect man for the job and he would lead us back to the top.

-When it was reported that he was Wisconsin's choice last December and that he might leave us, my heart sank. I was SO relieved when he said he wasn't going anywhere. I thought him leaving would be an absolute disaster.

-I scoffed when some people pointed out that the defense didn't need to be as bad as it was. I thought, like Al said, it was a process. He had me. Hook, line and sinker.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then the VT game happened.

That's when I started to worry. There was no excuse for us performing like that with the Coastal on the line. We played flat, unispired football. I started having doubts.

Then Duke happened.

And that's when I realized. Al is not who I thought he was.

His defense has not, does not and will not work here. His team quits on him. His words are empty. He's a fraud.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When it came time for the Russell Athletic Bowl, I tried to put my feelings aside. We were in a Bowl game. Hooray!

And then Louisvile happened.

And yea....it was ugly.

I was livid, I wanted to go down to Miami and punch the fat **** in the face. He is a disgrace.

I thought we were screwed, going to be stuck in mediocrity forever. But...

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Texans hired Bill O'Brien. (Great hire, by the way.) And word came out that Penn State wanted Al and he was interested. More than interested, in fact. Supposedly they had agreed to terms. I was excited, but weary until it became official.

Sure enough, something happened and Al's staying.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

What we need to accept is Al Golden is our football coach. And he's going to be for the foreseeable future, whether we like it or not.

This makes me angry. And I'm sure it makes many of you angry. But we need to accept it. Name calling and ****ing isn't going to change anything. Short of Al choking on a Whopper, we're stuck with him.

So let's try to make the best out of a bad situation. We have a great class coming in. Let's hope he makes some changes and that, somehow, we get back to the top of college football.

Al Golden is our Coach, and we need to just deal with it.

This is the first thing you've ever posted that I agree with.

Really?!? She had nothing to do with Larry Coker running this program into the ground! EVERYBODY thought that was a good hire! Off Coord under Butch Davis for years and had lots of players (ex and current) campaigning for him to get the job! But ultimately, he couldn't control the team, was out of touch, couldn't rely on current talent anymore and his lack of coaching skills began to show. Also, he was one of the worst recruiters and talent evaluators we've had here! Donna shalala made a good hire at the time. He was a curent staffer who was loved by his players and seemed to know what he was doing and was successful! Hindsight is always 20/20!!!

I appreciate the sentiment and agree with your conclusion, but essentially you are saying that you liked him for two years and then this year all the way through when we were 7-0, or maybe 7-1. But after that you realized you were wrong and that Al CAN'T coach after all and he's a disgrace.

I know football is a bottom line business, but sometimes it helps to look at some of the circumstances surrounding those losses. We just do not have enough quality depth as yet to handle all the injuries on the offensive side of the ball, and that put an enormous strain on a defense that isn't very good to begin with.

I'm happy he's staying. I hate change for change sake. And I am not overly optimistic about 2014 either. I would say he needs to have us back in contention by 2015 or that is the time we will have to consider a new coach. 5 years is plenty of time to get us to a 10+ win season.

I'm keeping hope alive until Ped State hires someone else. Still holding onto hope that they come to their senses and hire Big Dumb Al.

No man. Al (or at least Al's camp meaning his wife) really wants to be here at this point. Whether we want him or not. They didn't pull his offer.

My hope is that the team quits on the fat loser of a HC and he gets fired ASAP. Hopefully Lane Kiffin style in the middle of the season.

Ahhhhh..Yeah, I need to know who that chick is and why it is so important that we know her..That chick is a STALLION..

Anyway, yeah, I get your point. But cant we just take a few days to bytch and moan please? This a$$ hole went AWOL on us for 5 DAYS and comes out of his cave just to say all is well and has the audacity to have an attitude about it and we as PAYING SEASON TICKET HOLDERS should just say "Ok Al, we forgive you" because he supposedly wants to be here? Nah. Im good. I will continue to not like Al until he starts to make decisions that are in the best interest of this program. Making excuses for the defense is not that. And btw, expect another 9-4 season next year (or maybe worse) considering our schedule will be harder and the Defensive Tackle position will be worse. Maybe Wyche/Moore/ or Herterlou will surprise me.

Stop speaking like you know what happened. No one knows if they offered or if they wanted to go through the process or what his wife had to do with it.

Al might have felt like he needed to be here today just in case they didn't offer him because he had a press conference and meetings with his coaches planned long ago. If he didn't attend the press conference and meetings and wasn't there for the EEs, then the whole story would explode making it nearly impossible for him to come back here if they didn't eventually wind up offering him the job.

There's nothing stopping him from still leaving if he gets the offer today or tomorrow. That limp statement he issued didn't exactly box him into a corner.

What we need to accept is ....we have a unrealistic fan base that keeps living in the past

So are you saying that we should just accept this mediocrity and never hold any coach or player to a high standard? Do we not have the right as fans to voice our displeasure when we see a clearly inferior product on the field week after week?

This is a ***** *** attitude
