I agree with the unused scholarship part but a guy who couldn't get off the bench in the Ivy league is hardly going to get off the pine in the the ACC. AJ Casey was more productive here and he almost never played and the team he was on didn't have any front court depth at all.Yeah. Not sure why we have people who just look at stats and then immediately judge whether a guy will be a scholarship player or a walk-on. It's not the worst thing of all time, but it really isn't necessary.
He was a Florida Mr. Basketball finalist, even if he hasn't been stellar so far in college. And I say that not because of "recruiting hype", but because those types of accolades go to guys who put up numbers.
In the Portal era, it's hard to recruit 15 starters. You need a few guys who will do whatever it takes, and if that means taking a kid who was a HS star in Boca...I don't know, I'd just prefer that over an unused scholarship.

He's also a senior so no real time to develop him.
I think we'd have been better off taking a chance on an athletic high school kid. But who knows maybe he shows out his sr year.
I saw we just add the kid from Samford so we are done with scholarship players. Nice to have a full roster. You’re one short, right?

Deep but lacking in top end talent. Bethea is probably the only NBA level talent on the roster.
**** I rec 2 names...
I think the jury is still out on a few guys and their NBA chances. I'd agree with you in saying Bethea has the best odds of making it, but don't think he's the only Cane on NBA teams' radar.Deep but lacking in top end talent. Bethea is probably the only NBA level talent on the roster.

Yeah its nice having a full squad and enough scholarship guys to play 5 on 5.Depends on the situation. Casey wanted to play more, which is why he left. Basa-Ama may not have those same feelings.
Also, he didn't register any stats for about 6 weeks, and then was playing in the post-season. Seems like there may have been an injury.
Again, I'm not super-concerned right now, I'm just glad we are filling all the scholarships.

I guess this turning over 6-8 guys a year is going to be the new normal
fortunately L does his best work with old teamsSadly, I think you are correct.
Guys who want more PT will leave. Guys that want a good senior year and are no longer expecting to be stars will come in.
