It didnt steal my soul, but that was one of the worst seasons of any Miami sports team ive ever witnessed. It ranks up there with 2022 Football, 2024 baseball, and 2007 football. I know the NCAA investigation years were bad for bball, but there werent expectations on those teams.

No way he would have come close to getting 30+ per night he got the last 2 years at Georgia Tech. He was coming off the bench period. His 37% from the field, 32% from 3 and 73% from the line aren't exactly eye popping. His sophomore numbers were much better. A depth piece would have helped but probably not worth the NIL.
 
We added Yussif Basa-Ama from Yale. 6'8 195 played 58 mins last year.

2022-23: Appeared in 12 games off the bench... Shot 62.5 percent from the field... Grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds in 22 minutes in the victory at Fairfield... Was 5-for-5 from the field and scored 12 points in the win over Mississippi Valley State at the Rainbow Classic.

2021-22: Appeared in 22 games off the bench, including eight Ivy League games... Had eight points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field in wins over UMass and Siena... Pulled down eight rebounds at Cornell.

2020-21: Season canceled due to pandemic

High School: Florida Mr. Basketball finalist at the Saint Andrew’s School in Boca Raton… 2020 Class 3A Player of the Year… Named a Class 3A first team all-state selection by the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches… 2020 Palm Beach Most Valuable Player… Selected as a county First Five as both a junior and senior… Averaged 16 points, 10 rebounds and 1.5 blocks at Saint Andrew’s… Scored more than 1,000 career points… Helped lead Saint Andrew’s to the Florida state championship as a senior.

Personal: Left Ghana at age of 11… Started playing basketball in eighth grade.

Why Yale? “When it came to choosing the college I wanted to attend, the advice I kept getting was do I have a four-year plan or a 40-year plan.”

As a walk-on why not?
 
Not certain what the status is. Imagine PWO. Smart kid to leverage his skills to make it from Ghana to an engineering degree from Yale. If it leads to more Ghanaians, even better...
Stevie Wonder, Ezekiel Anash, Kofi Kingston, Nazr Mohammed, Eli Apple to name a few

Yeah. Not sure why we have people who just look at stats and then immediately judge whether a guy will be a scholarship player or a walk-on. It's not the worst thing of all time, but it really isn't necessary.

He was a Florida Mr. Basketball finalist, even if he hasn't been stellar so far in college. And I say that not because of "recruiting hype", but because those types of accolades go to guys who put up numbers.

In the Portal era, it's hard to recruit 15 starters. You need a few guys who will do whatever it takes, and if that means taking a kid who was a HS star in Boca...I don't know, I'd just prefer that over an unused scholarship.

Maybe he’s a practice squad guy or maybe he eats a few minutes here and there. We shall see.

Either way, we weren’t filling 13 ships with 6 figure NIL contracts… and bringing in age and experience is never bad.

Btw, anyone else hear the scuttlebutt on Wooga’s NIL deal at Nova? I don’t want to start rumors, so somebody come in here and drop the # and do gods message board work lol.
 
So ... are we now max'd out with bringing anyone else in? Scholly and money-wise?

I ask mainly based on this morning's news that Danny Hurley may be Lakers-bound. That would open up a 30 day window for UConn transfers out.
