What if Duke gets banged up at some point? Do we just let Morris go air raid? Do we have enough confidence in the back up running backs to carry the load?

Danny Dillard is that you?!? It's time to move on...We're o.k. at the running back position, Duke, Gus, Crawford, Hagens...

Punt on first down and let the defense win games.

Seems like everyone here was very concerned with the important role left by Dillard, so we are basically screwed without him.

Then we worry about Morris' health and safety. If Duke and Morris both get hurt, we have a problem.

S. Morris is going to air it out regardless... and if you are talking about the coaching staff having confidence, then YES i'm sure they do think that the group of E. Clements, D. Crawford, Mo Hagens, and Gus Edwards can "carry the load."

If you are talking about if the ppl on this site will have "confidence"..... i dont care.

Clements is coming off a neck injury.

Crawford has carried the ball six times for twenty-three yards so far in his career.

Hagans is a FB who has carried the ball eight times for twenty-four yards in his career.

Edwards is a true freshman.

Hopefully at least one of these guys can step up and be a solid second RB behind Duke. At this point though those saying "we're good" at RB are a bit ahead of themselves. There is plenty of reason to be concerned about this position.

Make no mistake, we'll turn into Texas tech if Duke goes down. Shotgun, 4/5 wide aerial assault.

This is why I agree with the OP's concern. There's a huge gap between Duke Johnson and the other RBs. This is also why I continue to say that Johnson should NOT return kicks or punts.

Forget just Duke going down. I've written a couple of times that these guys have to figure out a way to combine for an average of about 16 carries a game - even with Duke completely healthy. Someone needs to step up.

Rok stole my reference, but yes, we will become Texas Tech.

Gus is an animal, though. Not worried.

I agree with that. Last year with Mike James in the line-up you had a solid, proven back to take the load off of Duke. We don't have that this year. It's far to risky to have Duke fielding kicks again this season.

There's a huge difference between Duke and 99% of the backup RBs in college football. We have capable backups, but they'll never be as good as a once every 10 years type of player. You plug the backup in and see what he can do. If he gags, then you grab the next guy.

There was a giant difference between our main guys and Jarrett Payton too. Payton was a soap horse. But when his number was called he ran for a g-note.

We all break out in cold sweats at the thought of Duke going down because we know what an insane player he is. But that's football. I'm pretty sure he'll get dinged up at some point this year because he was dinged regularly last year.

People are sleeping on Easy Ed Clements. And the Gus Bus has some open seats too.
