what I miss about the OB

Yes but there are always outs...
No there were others on the Miami Board that warned the Marlins Stadium would cost between 1 - 2 billion but the City of Miami desperately wanted the new construction. Miami also didn't have the $40 plus million that would have been their share of the reconstruction.

There is hope however as the new major league soccer team wants a new 40,000 - 50,000 seat stadium and they want UM to play football there as well. They need the University of Miami if there's any hope of county and city participation. The voters know how the University got screwed and it could at a minimum get the county to chip in part of Tropical Park and for the stadium. The soccer team will have to bear most of the estimated construction cost of $150,000,000 to $200,000,000 million plus land but the University could sign a long term lease in the many millions per year if they can get out of their Dolphins lease. This is something that can be done and hopes of a new Orange Bowl aren't totally dead.

don't we have like a 20year lease with the SunLife stadium?

Still can't understand how these dumb *** leaders couldn't find a way to renovate the OB!

Miami is ran by whosever clique is elected part of the commissioners.

These are old school Cubans who can care less about UM or any other Miami tradition.. to them its all about money and getting rid of Castro so they can take that money back to Cuba. (not a racial comment just an observation)

There was allot of money to be made during the marlin stadium construction and mayors and commissioners were fired/recalled because of it.. even the FBI is still investigating what happened.

You can not blame Shalala for this and here is why

to her, we were moving our NFL caliber football team to a professional stadium and it was going to increase revenue for the school and the program.

please keep in mind, Miami is a small privet school in an international metropolitan area. This is not a small town with 2 sport teams and nothing else.
This is not Alabama, ND, Penn St, Ohio St..etc.. Even if we win 12 NC's it won't matter.

my first ob memory was the 2006 labor day opener against fsu in the rain. first taste of the rivalry's intensity was when a noles fan walked by the student entrance barricades doing the chop because no one could get to him. bottle flies out of the line and breaks on his head. he ended up going to the hospital and the cops that saw it just shrugged it off.

Que? There are some accurate statements in your post, but taking the money back to Cuba isn't really one of them. They're just trying to make money. Doesn't make it better, obviously.

I guess I was just mad at that last statement about taking money back...lol. you are correct

hot chicks, everyone wasted, opposing fans quiet and begging out, ncaa 58 win streak, 40 year olds in student section, getting home without having to worry about a freaking ride, night games. The OB was like Miami- one baddass ****

Another great memory: Punching some ****** square in the face who was in our student section with the long Indian dead dress and face paint chanting that fsu nonsense. K.O. The student section erupted in cheers.

LOL

During an FSU game at the student section, some dbag was wearing a UF visor. (yes you read it right at Miami vs FSU this kid was wearing a UF visor)

after all the beer, **** and cigarets were thrown at him some girl walked up to him and smacked the back of his head and the visor went flying.. he grabbed her by her shirt.. that was it.. it was like ants on top of sugar..at 1 point I felt really bad for him but i kept hitting him.. it was very emotional.

I don't know if any of you here were part of a frat at UM but during the Syracus game my frat got in a fight with a group of guys from god knows where.. at one point one of my frat brothers (Azad) actually bit the guys eat, and actually bit chunk of it off and spit it out.

about 15 guys in a fight all just stopped and just looked at each other.. when the cops got there they were just shocked how everyone just stopped fighting lol

In all the games I attended at the OB, it just occured to me that I never ONCE used the bathroom. That's weird.

As a boxing guy, I've got to mention Pryor-Arguello I. What a fantastic prizefight that was

the Orange Bowl was one of the last great (original)American stadiums

Steve I was there and that is still the most incredible fight I've ever seen as someone was getting carried out of the ring that night and it ended up being Arguello.

whoa, whoa, whoa, you went to that fight? You're a lucky SOB

I can't read any posts in this thread it hurts too much like flipping through a recently passed relatives photo album just wanted to say I miss that beautiful mistress the OB so much it hurts we need Blake James to build a replica on campus 60k capacity is fine just get it down oh God I gotta go see ya guys on the outside bye.

A Nole fan running into the men's room just before the half thinking he was beating the crowd only to find SRO conditions, literally, with 7 deep lines, even in the stalls. He bursts in yelling "I gotta take a sh*t, I gotta take a sh*t!" thinking it was going to get him to the front of the line. Right then a voice shouts out "Yer gonna sh*t cher pants, yer gonna sh*t cher pants" and the whole place cracked up and NOBODY moves. See ya.. All Canes fans, so who cares if the Nole dumps himself, right?

- OR -

A **** fan (wearing a **** jersey at the Shockey game for some ridiculously weird and stupid reason) walking across from my section at the edge of C/B getting flipped off and verbally abused, which escalated to full bore assault as he foolishly brandished the jersey as he insanely strolled all the way across the WEZ. The poor ******* got hit TWICE by full, large drinks (cokes, beer, who cares) soaked, and that was just part of his torment. What's more enjoyable that abusing a **** fan than a ****y dumbass **** fan...wait, that was redundant.

OUR HOUSE BRO - GTFO. **** I miss that!
