What I’d like to see on O re; Chris Johnson Jr

Just getting him a few touches a game, and not having out there but sporadically is a huge waste. There are so many ways to get him the ball out in space or with stuff like jet sweeps, etc. Dawson has to get creative and understand that with what 24 can do for Miami, he is really a necessity not an luxury
put him on PR

He doesn’t have as much short area quickness as i thought but he is fast as ****, i think we can do what u said with rayray as well. Let them come out of the back field with a lb covering them

This isn’t a knock on Lyle. He’s going to be a stud. But you don’t have (basically, he needed like 20 yards) back to back 1,000 yard seasons and not be good. I don’t think we’re scheming runs correctly for Martinez

He is a threat to any defense everytime he is on the field. And I think he’s going to make his money at the next level as a Swiss Army knife but more so as a WR. I think the motion out of the backfield with a wheel route has run its course. Quite frankly I think he will more often than not outrun Cams arm. I’d like to see him running traditional routes lined up as a regular receiver to lull a defense to sleep then get him on a shallow crossing route against man coverage which will let him run free. Give him an entire drive rather than a play here or there.

Have you sent these ideas to Dawson?

As a CFB player, CJJ should get 8-10 dedicated touches per game. His speed is disproportionate at the college level, which makes him a threat for 6 every touch. He's proven to be patient as a runner when needed. He can catch. He needs to improve his pass pro, but the coaches are nothing short of insane if they don't scheme him into optimal scenarios.

Speed has a way of covering up any blemishes a team may have. More fast guys on the field (who are actually good) at the same time can really stress defenses.

CJ is a guy who can just literally change a game, or how a defense plays when he's on the field (without even getting the ball)
Agreed on the game changing speed... idk this is always a touchy subject depending on what someone thinks... I feel like the overall skillset of someone like a Lyle is useful everytime he touches the ball... his speed is less sure but not by a crazy margin... i think the usefulness of every down makes up for the 1 play u are hoping a CJ breaks loose on... same argument people make in the sam brown vs horton... i get the home run aspect of a sam brown but me personally would take the consistent horton who outside of speed i think is a much more complete option

I agree with what you're saying, but (and I should've stated this clearly) -- I don't really look at CJ as a running back. But more of a hybrid type of guy who gets the ball in various ways, preferably out in space where he can just run in a straight line

Hes fast but what's the opportunity cost?

Put him in and the there's no potential for blocking, and the defense can key on him.

Leave him out and there's pass pro, and other guys can get the ball.

Maybe switch to WR if he can, but I'd rather have someone in there to protect Cam.

Seriously, line him up out wide or something.

Ahhh gotcha... i hear you & would agree. Maybe one day we will have both so we don't have to choose between lol

PREACH. As a DC you HAVE to account for that speed, it forces you to and opens up other thing when you do. Just being on the field is like a steph curry like gravity because DC HATE explosive plays..

You can tell he is still getting acclimated so he needs reps, very difficult to sit on bench majority of game and then come in for your one touch and guys on here want him pulled because he might be hesitant off a couple limited reps.. lmaoo

A guy like Urban would ask his coaches who are our fastest players? Then when they answer say find ways to get them on the field and making plays!
WR Ryan Williams has 10.49 speed and lighting it up for Alabama against Georgia. Not sure is that is laser or wind he but has every DC's attention.

CJ as we all know is a 10.25. His last run was for 25 yards. Six receptions for two TDs.

Whoever disagrees about CJ has forgotten how a University of Miami offense should look like. Fletcher and Martinez should come in when we are leading. CJ and Lyle need to get the ball early. Also need to open up the run gaps.

Can we please get another OC too while we're at it?

So… he’s basically Brashard Smith with a better attitude?

The difference IMO:

Smith has gone from WR to RB. There's a ton of successful players who made this transition. Successful hybrid players are primarily WR's first.

CJ is a RB who appears to be transitioning to WR. There aren't many successes with this transition.

WR is more technical while RB is more instinctual.

LOL…

CJJ isn’t going to consistently outrun Can’s arm strength. That’s laughable.

Also, the offense is lighting up the scoreboard and the only thing that has prevented that at times has been a few mistakes by Cam.

This debate and topic is silly. We have a cornucopia of weapons in this offense and we are utilizing all of them extremely effectively.
