if he can find the right amount of hate in his heart... I think him and Blount are very similar size and skill wise, hopefully he can have the same mind frame other then the punching dudes in the face part(unless its a Gator)

Look how low Blount gets @ 2:32

Gus Bus still needs to work on this. Against SSU he went in too high again on his TD run. SSU defender was just over-matched physically.

Blount is a finesse runner for his size.

While Gus is shifty, I'd like to see him as a power runner, a guy who wears down the D.

I think Gus Edwards has elite potential at running back like Duke Johnson..... its hard to gauge who he compares to, I read an article that compares him to Eddie George.

His shiftyness for someone his size is very rare, his athleticism is off the charts. imo He is comparable to Willis McGahee or even like the announcer mentioned Eric ****erson which was a spot on comparison to me.

You say Gus is a shifty back like duke? I notice all of or backs got that shiftyness to them I think that coach hurli coaching style

I keep telling you niggaz Golden is looking for that type of Jerome Bettis type of back... you know Eddie Lacy ****...

Outside of busting cats in the jaw, I agree with your comparison. Lol... Gus have to work on keeping his pad levels low because he runs to upright. Despite that, he can still be a good RB for us.

It's going to be interesting to see how well he responds to coaching. I don't know how long it takes to improve this.

Anyone have an opinion?

Gus needs a lot of work on lowering his pad level. He should take a big jump in that during a full off-season, but right now I'd be content with marginal improvement as the season progresses.

Blount is a straight GOON!!! He from Florida right? Anyone know if we ever had any interest when he was coming out of H.S? ....never mind...he came out of HS when we had retarded coaches

The only reason why I brought up the Gus' pad level is because I don't want the kid to be a sitting duck back there like Eddie George.

The only RB I didn't mind running upright was James Stewart. Dude was like 6-3, 235, ran 4.4 in the 40, and ran like a deer. Does anyone remember him from the 90s? Dude was one of my favorites.

Other than working on fundamentals (e.g., getting lower pad level, etc.) i wouldn't mess too much with him being himself, which to my way of thinking is his greatest weapon - frustrating tacklers. Right when you think he's gonna juke you get plowed (you're off balance and get trucked), and right when you think you're getting steamrolled (you plant and square shoulders) you get juked. I like punishing running, but I like destroying my opponent's mind into making them into a dispirited mess on the field a lot better.

Don't hate me for this

Greg jones (was 6'2" 249 w a 4.55 40 when drafted)

I have no problem if he becomes Greg jones or Fred Taylor 2.0

Thought I saw an article that compared him to James Stewart, too. Maybe the quote came from Hurley Brown. I definitely remember Stewart. He seemed a bit lighter on his feet than Gus.

Gus actually reminds me a bit of Daniel Thomas. To the good and bad

Hey, Gus has great size and displayed nice potential in mop-up duty against Florida Atlantic and Savannah State. Who doesn't love the potential and wonder what he can be . . . but right now, he's not close to being Jerome Bettis or Eddie Lacy. Those guys are tanks with huge thighs, butts and legs that run over folks rather than around.

The true freshman needs to work on pad level and isn't a finished product yet? Got it....
