What’s the buzz regarding our D

plenty of coaches have been fired and replaced during the season. That includes head coaches/managers and assistants. Some of the new coaches have even taken their team far, even to a championship.

Just so we’re clear, ya’ll do realize Mel Tucker is a **** poor DC, correct? He resurrected his career running Kirby’s Def, but the guy is cheeks.

2008 Cleveland Browns ranked 17th
2009 Jacksonville Jaguars ranked 24th
2010 Jacksonville Jaguars ranked 27th
2011 Jacksonville Jaguars ranked 11th
2012 Jacksonville Jaguars ranked 30th

Lemme stop here; u see my Bears hired Mel Tucker in 2013, & I was hella confused. Then I heard Chicago Sports radio talk about how in 2011, he had the Jags def as a top 15 unit, which was a drastic improvement from 2010. I cursed out the radio, & I cursed the organization for making this hire b/c they conveniently ignored 2012.

2013: Chicago Bears ranked 31st
2014: Chicago Bears ranked 31st

Again, allow me to stop here; this was the worst defense in the history of the organization. Tucker ran a scheme that was ripe for any QB to look like Joe Montana in his prime.

He then goes to college to Rehab U, aka Alabama. At Alabama, he coached under Smart as a DB coach, he then follows Smart to UGA as a DC in name only, as it’s Smarts Defense. Well, that got him exposure & he became a HC at Colorado, going 5-7 (104th in Def). Colorado was 5-7 in 2018, as well, but their defense was ranked 52nd b4 Tucker took over.

Tucker then mysteriously gets another job as HC at MSU. How? Beats the **** outta me.

In 2020 he goes 2-5 (54th in Def…Mich St was 18th in Def in 2019). Let’s blame it on the Covid yr

In 2021, he goes 11-2 (111th in Def) I guess we can’t blame Covid after all, but the offense was exciting at least

In 2022, he goes 5-7 (100th in Def)

Then in 2023, we know what happened.

So I’m not sure y u fine folks keep saying bring Mel Tucker here, unless u want the Defensive version of Gattis, & if u do, good luck.

Well the things you described are very different than being bad at your job, which is the issue with Guidry and the crux of your original argument.
And I think we’ve seen over the past several years that people who were sexual predators at the workplace often don’t get fired.
**** I worked at a company where a senior team member got drunk (after hours) at the office, had *** with a junior member of staff and rubbed his own **** on the walls and he wasn’t fired. They told him couldn’t drink at work anymore.
He must have been the Head of H.R.😹

I was going to say those exact words lol.

There's nothing really new. Expect Iowa State to put up a lot of points and yeah thats all I got. The opts out hurt us more then them

LOL, not much more to really add to this post.

Who knows? Maybe Guidry fields a formidable defense, and Cam and company leave on a good note. Would be nice to get to 11-2.

I'm more concerned that Mario is constantly trying to recreate an era of Alabama football that 1- Nick Saban was running away from and 2- Mario was jettisoned out of for his nemesis Brent Key

re Tucker per the SP+:
2019 Colorado Def 105th (52nd in 2018)
2020 MSU Def 12th (13th in 2019)
2021 MSU Def 30th
2022 MSU Def 86th
2023 MSU Def 44th (fired in Sept.)

And he'd clearly have no other defensive brain power on campus to help him figure this out. There are no Kirby Smarts or Dan Lannings around Coral Gables

i am assuming
based on all the portal additions that we are making changes
its just not public yet
either that or we are paying enough that players dont mind playing for sub par coaching
or they're being convinced it was the players' fault and not the DC's

Of course they don't. It’s all just knee jerk reactions and quick fixes on CIS.
